Lego Batman vs. Lego Batman 2
Both at 75% off and i'm wondering if i'll buy one of them.
First, is that a game aiming for kids or adults enjoyed them too?
How many hours of gameplay?

I heard Lego Batman 2 is the only open world Lego title, that's true?

Well, feel free to talk about these games and help me to decide.
Thanks!

I like how Lego Batman 1 pays homage to past Batman comics, and movies (featuring the soundtrack from 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns). I also enjoyed the silly moments featuring Robin, however, the Laugh Out Loud moments of Lego Batman 2 make it a much more refreshing experience (played Lego Batman 2 on PS3).
Both games are cool anyway.

I have bought every single Lego game on steam. I love them all. Lego Indiana jones 2 is free roam too. Not as big as Batman 2 or Marvel but preety big,

I love both games. LEGO Batman 2 is probably better, but still, both are very good. If you ever get the chance, you should pick up both games.
The first Lego Batman isn't a true Batman experience while the second one is.

By the time you're reading this, Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham has been out for some time but I thought I'd revive this thread anyway (as the question still gets frequently asked).

Lego Batman 2 is far better than Lego Batman 1 or Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

After reading so many comments, the only 2 reasons why people prefer Lego Batman 1 over 2 us that the characters in 1 are mute and those people who loved that faft about 1 tend to claim that the npc's in Lego Batman 2 are annoying since they repeatedly say "Help me!" but is that complaint really a legit reason to prefer Lego Batman 1 over 2? No, it's not... especially since most games out there from rpg's to fps to action games have characters who repeat dialogue in a similar yet untimely fashion.

Personally, the voice actors in Lego games really help bring the games to life. So it's probably going to be easy for you to predict I'd prefer Lego Batman 2 and 3 over 1.

The second reason why people claim Lego Batman 1 is better than 2? The Artificial Intelligence. I have read things like the a.i being more natural and just plain smarter in Lego Batman 1 but since Lego Batman 2 has much more going on, I think that's why. Make no mistake, I'm not excusing Lego Batman 2 at all but it's open world and it does have alot more things for the cpu to process - whether in open world mode or inside missions.

In my opinion, Lego Batman 2 is better and still the best in the series so far.

Think of Lego Batman 2 as a Lego version of Batman: Arkham Knight. There is an open world for you to explore, you can drive the Batmobile and rage the streets. The voice acting of the characters and villains are amazing - even if the generic/non-impprtant npc's seem repetitive at times.

Yeah, i like a lot the demo, so i bought it.
But i don't have an XBox controller, and i'm not supposed to have one to play a game on PC. A little more work on PC version like mouse support (that's basic) will make it perfect. :)
remap k to jump, j for punch, l for speal, and i for tag/enter a car,

I'm currently about 40% through 1. I played 2 and 3 before starting 1 and was concerned that it would be too simple and/or clunky.

It's great.

Joker's dialogue and Batman's jealousy of Superman (even Robin's starstruck) are so much fun.

Obviously too late to this convo that it matters for op, but would still like to give my input for anyone else with the same dilemma :D

In terms of character variety 2 ironically isn't very different from the first game, at least for the story part. You still have different suits, but you're also able to play as a variety of superheroes from the DC universe .. well.. kinda. Superman joins in after a few missions and is a decent addition, but after that there is no addition to the trio/character roster until the final missions, which baffles me. As for villains you only ever fight Joker and Lex in the actual story, while various others are simply unlocked in the open world without any real purpose. Obviously you get to play as many more characters in freeplay and the open world as you unlock them.
On the side of level-design 2 game feels notably weaker where only one or two missions stood out by a small margin, and almost every other mission took place in the same environments, which made it feel very bland.

In contrast the first game has, granted.. - only Batman and Robin playable in the main story s'far as I recall, but TT Game brilliantly made an option to play the same story but from the perspective of the villains. This not only adds a ton of character variety but quite different environments where you play/fight these villains.
The first game doesn't have more than some smaller hub-areas to explore like the older Lego games, which is completely fine. 2 is a prime example of cramming this open world "check-list" content into the game in a very half-arsed way. The open world here is by far the least interesting out of any Lego game, that I've played at least (comparing to Lego HP 5-7, LotR, SW TFA,), which makes doing menial tasks even more of a chore.

Imo the only thing the second game maybe does better is adding dialogue, adding some quirky humour, but even that's on the subjective side. Overall I'd definitely recommend the first game over the second.

Dude. This conversation ended like 7 years ago.
