Xbox 360 controller on PC: 2nd player problems

Been playing other games using two official xbox wireless 360 controllers for local multiplayer just fine until I started playing this game then my 2nd controller did not respond for anything but my keyboard was registered as a second player. Any ideas on how to make the 2nd controller registered as a second player? Thanks

Just tried playing this with my son. Can't use 2 xbox wireless controllers at same time for 2 player. He is pretty disappointed. It works in plenty of other games. Any fix for this?

I know this thread is from 2015 but I was having this issue and I was able to solve it. First activate the second player with the keyboard then go into the control setup. There is an option that says "Change Device" which will let you change player 2 to the controller by pushing any button.
