"Online" multiplayer?

I was wondering if it is possible playing this with my S/O on different pcs could work? I read something about steam using parsec remote play, or linking the game from the friends tab for them to join in. Is that true?

Have you tried the Steam Remote Play (in Steam Settings). You should be able to use that to play together :)
