How do you play with a friend on the same screen in this game?

When you activate the 2nd player, the screen will split.

If I'm not mistaken, the keyboard is split in 2 too, left for player 1, right for player 2, but both player can use a controller, or one with a controller and one with a keyboard.

NB: on the keyboard, the menu key for the 2nd player is not the same than the menu key for the 1st player (in the same way than the Start button of the controller of the 1st player is not the same than the Start button of the controller of the 2nd player)

Just another quick question. Is this the same in the other lego batman games (2+3)

Just another quick question. Is this the same in the other lego batman games (2+3)

So far, every Lego games work the same way.
