Fix for Stuttering
So I was experiencing some stuttering, momentary freezing, etc. in this game as well as other Lego games and found a great many complicated suggested fixes. I found a simple fix that worked for me that I hadn't seen on the message boards yet (although it might have been there). I simply turned off my internet connection while playing this game. It worked beautifully, although don't ask me why. Just thought I'd share this and maybe it'll solve a few headaches had by those attempting to enjoy this otherwise delightful game.

Are you using a tethered Android phone for your Internet connection? That has been known to cause severe slowdown in "Borderlands 2" and some other games, but I don't know if "LEGO Batman" has this problem.

If you are using a connection like that, you could try bridging the tethered connection. There are some instructions in the post below:

If you're not using a connection like that, then nevermind. :-)

It seemed unlikely, but it was the only thing I could think of that might explain stuttering that was fixed by disconnecting the Internet.

Most of the problems that people have posted about here are actually fixed by turning on V-Sync (or maybe limiting the frame rate in some other way). But I don't recall anyone else posting about a stuttering problem, so I have no idea if V-Sync would help with something like that.
