A Poisonous Appointment - flowers not appearing to cross sludge

After you've been through the greenhouse and completed the room where you have to open the door on the right, you enter the door and have to build three flowers from smashing the cupboard which should then cause 3 flowers to appear in the sludge.

It doesn't. I can't cross the sludge as it is my first time playing this game so I am yet to unlock freeplay and have the suit recuired.

How do I cause the flowers to appear?

Are you just opening one cabinet? It has been quite a while since I played, but there may be more than one cabinet (Maybe something up on the wall, or some in the background and some in the foreground?).

I have the same problem and I destroyed every cabinet in the room

Have you watched a walkthrough video for that section? If you have and are doing what you see in the video and it isn't working, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

I just watched one to refresh my memory. The OP's problem may have been that they weren't jumping onto the flowers after they built them. They didn't mention that part, and I guess that's what actually causes the flowers to appear in the sludge.

If you're having the same problem (you built the flowers, but no flowers appeared in the sludge), did you jump on the flowers after you built them?

Thanks, jumping on the flowers on the ground made them pop up in the sludge

The fact there is no visual cue you have to jump on them is really dumb though
