Are there any microtransactions in this game? And if so, what are they?
Chedd  [developer] Dec 6, 2012 @ 7:32pm
Nope! Like it says on our Steam page: "This is the ultimate hardcore version of Triple Town. There are no in-app purchases of any kind in the game. There is no DLC. When you buy the game, you get everything it has to offer with that purchase. We hope you enjoy it!" :-)

Might as well preempt another inevitable question: This isn't the same version of Triple Town as on iOS and Android. Aside from the fact that we've stripped out all IAP, another major difference is the metagame -- the mobile version doesn't *have* one, while this version does (you build a capital city in between regular sessions of Triple Town.) This version also has special functional items that the mobile version does not, like the "time machine," which sits on your board and predicts your next move.

- What resolutions are supported?
- Widescreen?
- Fullscreen? Windowed? Full/Windowed?
- Does it have Cloud support?
- Is there a demo? (My Android doesn't support the mobile version)

Anyways, I'll probably get it at some point -- seems like the type of game that someone who liked Critter Crunch and Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes would like. That bear is damn cute too...funny how I recognize him from seeing him on game review sites even when I've never played the game itself.

Triple Town supports both windowed mode (that's the default) and full-screen. It works at all resolutions, but does so by upscaling certain assets, so it won't look awesome at insanely high resolution on a large screen in fullscreen mode. We're hoping to make some improvements on that front soon. No demo on Steam; if you want to try it before buying, just check out the version on Facebook or Google+ -- it's very similar (but, as I mentioned earlier, those versions have IAP, advertisements, and social network functionality that was stripped from this version.) No cloud support at present; that'll come in the very next update for sure. We wanted to launch with cloud support but found out at the very last minute that the way we save data in Triple Town is incompatible with Steam's system.

PLayed and loved Triple Town on my Android device. Found it very addictive and bought the full version even after promising myself I wouldn't buy anything more on the Market Place for a while. But I can't help but feel that the £7, off offer, Steam price is still a tad steep.

I understand what you've said above regarding the "Metagame", but what you've said here just doesn't make me want to purchase it again - at least not yet. So I'm going to be that annoying one and ask: Sell it to me! Again! Harder! What distinct advantages would I gain from buying and playing on Steam rather than my phone which sits just behind my keyboard?

Another question I have is regarding Steam Achievements. I'm a pretty big achievement junkie and was wondering if adding more achievements was on the cards for a later update? :)

Hey devs, I love this game, are we going to see a Linux version? This would be perfect for playing on my Linux based laptop during my commute. You know Steam is on Linux now, right? :)
Chedd  [developer] Dec 6, 2012 @ 9:40pm
@Adraeus, thanks for the suggestions. @Frazer; I'm afraid I'm not fond of the hard sell; just not my style :-) This version of the game is for folks who don't want to (or can't) play on mobile, and/or who would appreciate some greater purpose in between sessions of Triple Town that binds every session together; it also comes with, as I noted earlier, some cool new toys like the time machine (which predicts your next piece) and the crate (which you can store items in temporarily -- a portable, one-time-use stash). If you're curious as to whether you like it, you can experience it on Facebook for free. That's the story! @ecma - Yup, we'd love to make a Linux version. Shouldn't be too hard, all things considered. Unfortunately I don't have an ETA for you at present.

Thanks for the reply, Chedd! I'll most likely buy it in the future anyway. It's just a matter of when I crack! :)

Oh, almost forgot to add: yes, it is possible we might add more achievements (and plenty of other enhancements) if our sales justify the effort. So fingers crossed that people decide to buy TT!

Enjoyed the lite version of this game on iOS (without paying for in-app purchases, unfortunately).

Definitely worth its reasonable price for the PC standalone edition and could see myself booting this up regularly. (Time to consider peppering the iOS/Android/Facebook/Google-Play versions with ads regarding the Steam version's availability, don't you think?)

Not too sure if there's anything further to add to the daily drip-feed experience in the Capital City - maybe a purchaseable slots/casino location and alternate paints/colours for the decorative plots (more money-sinks, get 'em suckers who MUST have gold versions of items).

Casual features aside, the game could do with having online leaderboards (filtered by friends/worldwide/nearby ranks). More maps would certainly be a huge bonus. Could also potentially have a Timed mode if your design philosophy allows for it.

Game is in the first few pages of the Steam Top Sellers at the moment; hope you guys are satisfied with the initial sales so far.

There are a fairly large number of money sinks in Triple Town already. Of course, let me know if you feel like you have too many coins. ;-)

We actually *do* have online leaderboards and they are currently collecting scores. But it looks like they aren't showing up the way we expected they would in Steam. So we're probably going to have to patch for that. On the plus side, it seems that we're collecting your scores so they aren't being lost!

We don't actually have access to our sales data at present. Hopefully something Valve will turn on for us soon; we're biting our nails meanwhile. ;-)
