how to use vents?

I know you can go into the vents and that there is a screwdriver somewhere but I just don't know where it could be. theres no videos and nothing pops up on google. help?

I found it on the first level, on the small table in the lobby. Don't know if it's the same every time as the levels are procedurally generated. But you can go back like I did to the first tape and all your items are maintained even after death unless you choose new game.
