I have a Saitek P990 and have both the left stick and D-pad set to directional controls...
For an Xbox controller, here's my scheme.
Y = Space (Inventory)
X = 1 (Flare)
A = 2 (Rotten Meat)
B = 3 (Health Tonic)
Back = M (Map)
Start = P (Pause)
LT = C (Draw/Sheath Weapon)
LB = F (Flashlight)
RT = X (Interact/Shoot)
RB = R (Reload)
Bottom line, your only bet is key emulation. It WILL work, though. Unless something is horribly wrong with your system.
Enjoy! :D
Frankly there's probably a handful of different things out there. Saitek/Cyborg devices have their own proprietary emulation profilers, but that doesn't help with Xinput devices or non-Saitek peripherals.
Oh, and just a heads up, Xpadder is ten bucks now.
