Game not launching, Error: "Can't Create System Folders"
WHenever I try to launch CF3 I briefly see the splash screen, then an error window appears

Error: "Can't Create System Folders"
Use OK to break into debugger, Cancel exits

File: "q:\cf3\src\engine\render3D\shader\shader.cpp"
Line 259
Stacktrace

===================

I've looked in the engine.ini file and there is no reference to the Q:\ drive. Offcourse I can download a tol and make a virtual Q:\ RAM drive as a workaround. I googled the error file and couldn't come up with even one hit relating to this error. Any idea how to fix ?

Could you let me know your system specs please. I'm running this game fine on Windows 7 64bit

Just so there is no confusion, I reinstalled Windows and installed all updated. This time I din't transfer my profile back yet. I tried to run the game again and got the same error as previous. I guess the devs don't read this forum. I also tried to find the developer and submit a bug report but the game's developer just redirects to another website with no reference to cannon fodder or the development group behind it. ANy idea where I can send my bug report to ? I'm not too keen on playing this game, I'd probably be better off launching it from within my Amiga emulator.

OS: Windows 7-64bit SP1
Gfx: Radeon HD 7700, latest signed driver v13.251.0.0
Memory: 2x 8Gb 1,6Ghz

Please download and install directx 9c. Go to the Cannon Fodder 3 folder and edit values r_width, r_height in engine.ini to match screen resolution or r_fullscreen from 1 to 0.

I got the same error when trying to run the game from my external drive, but it runs fine from my C Drive, maybe that's your issue.

If the above does not resolve the issue, then be sure that you are installing the game on your main drive. It will produce this error message when launched from an alternate drive letter. In my case I install most of my games onto my SATA external SSD drive. I had to copy the game folder from that drive to my C: drive. Then within steam uninstall from my external drive and then reinstall onto my main drive. Steam will sense the folder already exists so it will only verify file integrity. No need to re download the game.
