What happened to Cortex Command?
Has it been updated in the last few years?

I remember playing it on my old single core 3.6ghz machine way back when, and it didn't run as poorly as it seems to be running these days.

I'm pretty sure my ram and CPU are working fine, as there are other games that require considerable resources that seem to run just fine.

At the beginning of the game it seems to run okay, until I get set up, at which point it just slows to an absolute crawl regardless of how much AI is on screen.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes. After awhile game slows down.

I noticed!

Holy crap, you practically have to re-start the game after a certain amount of time.

I never recall it being that bad.

It's the game engine being badly coded or some such.

Sometimes it runs beautifully, with exception to the obvious bugs that everyone is annoyed by. And sometimes it just runs like absolute garbage. I wonder if memory optimizations would help.

I remember a old forum topic on the Data Realms forums that would give you some extra FPS. I still use it to this day.

Its pretty easy to find and if you still cant find it ill search it up for you.

Do you remember what the topic was titled?

Interesting, I'll try some of these.

I'm starting to believe the biggest issue I seem to be facing is that the memory use seems to not be optimized, but there's not a lot I can do as an end user with that.

Thanks for the help though, I'll be sure to try it out.

The gibs sometimes overload the engine.

It's funny though, because sometimes after the scene has been cleared out of moving actors, items etc, it still runs slowly.

I honestly think it has something to do with memory/cpu optimization.
