How do you multiplayer?

I am thinking about buying this game, but my decision is down to the way multiplayer works. If anyone could tell me how you play multiplayer it would be much appreciated.

There is local split-screen multiplayer. Look through the pictures on the store page. It shows up to 4 player split-screen.

For local multiplayer, unless you want to be terribly inconvenienced, use controllers.

One controller per person. Of course, if you want someone to be OP, you can let them use the mouse and keyboard, but where's the fun in that.

Either way, controllers. Any type works, but xbox is the type most easily preconfigured and anything without joysticks is quite inconvenient. I use ps2 controllers myself.

Although a internet/lan multiplayer game would be appreciated. I like the way they did this. I bought an PS3 only to find out they hardly bring out split-screen games anymore. Which is a bummer since its the only and biggest value a console can have compared to the PC.

Well that's a bummer, I thought when they migrated to Steam they already had implemented an "online multiplayer" through steam servers. Good thing I checked the community before I bought it. Oh well. :(

Well, there is/was a mod that allowed for 2 player online, but it was hacky as all hell. Either way, the game isn't built to allow online multiplayer, and it'd certainly use every last bit of data handling physics calculations.
