Wouldn't be cool to have a 3D Cortex Command game?

Not really, I don't see much pros about it as cons, It would just be to unmanagable to have an FPS and an RTS at the same time.

One of the reasons why I like cortex command is because of the Pixel style and also because of the great physics and the fact that destroyed stuff is getting added to the enviroment. This would be pretty hard to do in a 3D game.

I think it would be cool. Kind of like a mine craft type situation. That said I really enjoy this game as it is. But yeah it would be fantastic to see something like this in 3D. There would be more space.

Well cortex command in 3D would just be like many other environmental destructive FPS games with some RTS implementation. The reason i stick with cortex command is because it's awesome 2D pixel graphics, interesting UI, and other gameplay features which is also the reason i'm regularly on the forum and excited every time i see tweets about CC.

What games?
I haven't heard of any game like that.

The exact concept might not have been done before, but as small features it's in almost all sandbox, construction games. Base building, digging after gold, kill other people or AI, buy weapons from a menu. To me this sounds like a compilation of various games available. I like CC because it is unique in its 2D perspective while in 3D i've seen parts of it.

Bottomline: I disagree that a 3D CC would be comparable to the original, that's just my opinion ;)

I compilation wouldn't make it unorigional at all, it would just make it, er... better.
(In my opinion worse because it would be overly unmanagable.)

OR, you could just have it where there is no RTS in it. So you would just have a bunch of players. Maybe a player would be like the commander that orders the troops and such, so it won't be a disaster. (Even though that is what CC is all about, and most of the comedy of the game is when ships completey destroy soldiers) xD

Yeah it would be a pretty bad idea for a 3D CC game.

Maybe it would be profitable under it's own name, but not as a sequel to an RTS shootemup.

Yeah I agree, it should be it's own game. (If it were to happen)

A third dimension adds all sorts of un-fun complexity to an engine. Modders would probably turn away quite quickly with such a game, as it would probably be a pain to develop for.

As somebody who made their own personal gun once I can agree, dealing with physics in a new dimension would be different to the origional CC modders and polygons are harder to detail than pixels.

If CC went 3D, I'd more than likely lose complete interest in it.
