Steam Achievements for CC?
Hi guys! I'm new to the CC dev team, and I've come to ask you guys a question:

If Cortex Command had 'achievements' on steam, which would you like to see implemented? It's something we'd really like to add, and your suggestions would really help us form out list of possibles!

I'd rather prefer trading cards and backgrounds/emoticons, but not sure whethere that is an option since it may be possible there are no old arts that can be used as background / absolutely not viable to draw new stuff.

Anyways, here are all ideas I can think of:
-Install 1/3/10/X mods. Several games, including Civilization 5 and Torchlight, similiarly have multiple achievements dedicated to mod usage. Since the Workshop is bound to come out together with the update, I'm sure that's a good option to promote it.

-Basic achievements for new players, like "Fully play a campaign" or "Play any scenario". I don't know why people put those in their games, but these are extremely common.

-Some witty punchline achievements for scenarios, like "Crab sticks" for First signs or "Dummied out" for Dummy Fortress. Once again just something super common when it comes to achievements seen in other games. Not that I'm low on personal idea, ya'know, it's just that reinventing the bike might be a wasteful activity.

-I'd recommend avoiding creating a mod submission related achivements, since in best case you'll have to remove blank, trash mods from the workshop just once a week.

-Some game feature promoting mods, I guess. Like one that you get for playing 4 player campaign with splitscreen.

I'm typically against spending development resources on implementing achievements because they're pretty much useless.. BUT, if this game is absolutely required to have achievements then I would suggest that some of them should be tied to doing absolutely ridiculous things such as getting a kill with no arms or legs, or crushing several enemies with a craft, or getting a win in less than 10 seconds, or making the game crash, or getting blasted out of the scene boundaries, or actually playing campaign mode, etc. Stuff like that.

Yeah, definitely.

Hehehe, indeed I must agree, doing crazy or challenging things like kidnapping enemies with dropships, getting limbless kills and wining with your own brain bellow 10 hp would be fun!
Though the crashing the game achievement sounds pretty easy... on other hand, I'm pretty sure Dungeons of Dredmor has something like that, and it also has a pretty witty description!

Here a some ideas:
Complete dummy fortress with only 3 deaths
Land on an enemy
Crash 3 or more spacecrafts at the same time
Kill an enemy with the chainsaw
Shoot across the entire map and hit (if still possible).
Do not touch the ground for x amount of time
Kill the enemy brain with your brain
Kill an enemy without weapons

I would rather prefer Goals for all the smaller gamesmodes like survive x amount of time(on normal or higher).

In-game event tracking is not possible without bogging the game down performance wise.
One could run a death count check however after the battle is over.
Brain health check would also be possible I suppose, since they are already identified as brains and not regular gib fodder.
Even better, patch it and finish workshop support.

Here is a achievement. When you crash into the enemy brain robot with your drop ship as soon as you drop from yours in campaign and win. The achievement should be called "Cheap".

"...Okay, I'm done."
-Have said above happen, and manage to kill atleast 3 enemys with the falling dropship.

"OH GOD MY SIDES"
-Kill the enemy brain with his own Delivery.
