Cortex Command Open Source Development (Cortex Command Community Project)
Cortex Command is still being developed as an open source project by the most devoted and experienced community members.

The magic happens on this Discord server: https://discord.gg/TSU6StNQUG

Current pre-release version Pre5 offers massive performance gains as well as experimental LAN multiplayer mode and loads of other stuff. It is actively developed right now.

Maybe share the github and mod.io pages too? Or you'd rather link to discord and have people familiarize with things from there?

Thanks weegee for the nice intro post!

I'm the project lead of the effort to update CC, the Cortex Command Community Project (CCCP).
We've already made some awesome changes, and have plans for a ton more. Our next pre-release is coming out soonish, and we're always looking for more hands, thoughts or feedback, so feel free to join us there.

I'll just drop a website link, since that links everywhere else:

will the community project updates be official or do i have to install them as mods through the workshop?

The community project is entirely standalone, at least for the foreseeable future. Because it is an entirely different exe, and has different base game content and dll requirements, it can't really be made available as a workshop mod.

Maybe someday Data will want to have it act as an update to the Steam version, but we have no say in that, and I think for the time being he's focused on other things.

Is data even still around these days? just came back to this game from years back and I cant seem to find anything from him after 2019.

Is this still accurate? What's the best way to play Cortex Command currently?
I dont understand..

Why is cortex command "for sale" on Steam for 20 dollars and yet if it has been turned into a community project, it is free on Git Hub???

Is the version on Steam also the community developed one???
