Why doesn't a controller work?

And why hasn't anyone fixed it? A game that emphasizes the use of controllers is outright broken when you try to use one. You can barely navigate the menus and out of the entire controller, only two buttons work (LT and Start and Right Stick acts like a mouse) and even those aren't properly mapped or assigned which makes starting the game impossible. I can't believe you expect $21.99 for this and it's listed with "Full Control Support".

Im having issues as well. With keyboard and controller for 2 player the right stick overrides the mouse players aim.

I don't have any mods. This was total vanilla, right after downloading/installing. The controls just don't work. The game is broken.

same right after install i never even got to play

so, i don't know what, but something just fixed itself (extra comfort with dead zone settings ingame unticked and set to 5)

I just tried that and nothing. I can't even set up any custom controller settings either. It just doesn't accept it. Doesn't matter what I do, nothing changed.
