Already have that :O
Thanks though!
For real? to me its the first and only like that...
Well, I have "Powder Toy" which is a much more complex version, but it is a pixel destruction game, essentially lol.
Idk, I've searched everywhere but can't ever find anything.
Yep. I'm pretty sure I'm the only soul on steam that plays this game religiously. :P

TL;DR
No one hardly wants to make these games because only about 10,000 people will buy and play them over a long period of time, Compared to mind numbing trash such as bullet hell games or platformers, etc. The people that make them probably find them fun to play.
But as you can see, they take ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of MATHEMATICS. I mean, you will have per iteration of a bitmap value or area maybe hundreds of times, with hundreds of different calculations. THEN you need HUNDREDS OF HOURS of OPTIMIZATION.
Or it takes very few calculations, but takes hundreds of hours just to set them up and figure out all the mathematics and formulas required, just to take them to work with your "unique" set up. Which then must be optimized.
This isn't worth the potential what, 15k? in sales? Over a period of time. These games attract a "niche" crowd. What sells a game is marketing, not solely features and quality or ingenuity.
However, Cortex Command lacks in everything to be honest, minus the pixel engine. Which I've seen people request the source code for, for years.
Also I had no idea they were so difficult to make in comparison to more traditional games. They definately do attract a niche crowd, but niche games are usually the best and most interesting ^_^
Also, speaking of Cortex's engine, it's the best pixel/ pixel destruction engine I've ever seen. Do you think Dan will ever release the source code for it?
Doubt it, you have a better chance of making a copy from scratch. Maybe one that is even better.
The only programming I know is print "Hello World", and I'm sure that was done incorrectly.
Programming takes time, if you have the time, and learn how to take breaks, anything is possible.
The engine took years to build. It's not a trivial undertaking. It is almost unique.
As for similar kinds of gameplay. You can check out King Arthur's Gold.
