I invite you to watch videos on youtube such as this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbE_JOetqx0
Also you can find guides for the game in the community hub.
The main objective is to be the only faction with a brain reserve by the end.
The campaign is turn based, each turn you can choose to assault ONE gold site, you do so by selecting one of the available dot on the map and then by allocating a budget for the assault. Mind that 500 gold will be deduced from your budget. You can also choose to scan the site first in order to uncover the fog of war on the surface.
You need a brain for each attack, and if successful the deployed brain will be garrisonned in the captured site. Your brain reserve is finite and cannot be refilled.
Each turn you have to pay a 200 gold fee, and then collect 1000 per gold site under your control.
On top of managing your attack you can choose to allocate the remaining budget toward defense for the sites you already control.
Good luck
