AW (possible) stuttering fix
I think I found a (temporary) fix for AW stuttering. I'm not guaranteeing any FPS increase (such as when loking at big open parts of the map), but it should fix most of the annoying stuttering at the beginning of a round in MP and in the Campaign when it's loading new parts of the map (at least it works for me).

It may seem counter-intuitive, but set the r_videomemoryscale in config_mp.cfg to 0.5 or something like that (I reduced mine from 0.85 to 0.5).

I have an HD7970 (3GB VRAM) and I could barely play the game maxed out (extra textures caused a lot of stutter), but setting the memory scale to 0.5 eliminated most of that stuttering.

I tested Defender in private match and stuttering was gone after 10sec (before setting memoryscale to 0.5 it stuttered for the whole match) - everything except shadows maxed out.

If this fix really works I have a theory on why it does, but I would like a few other people with similar problems to confirm it works for them too.

**Some things may look a bit worse, but you have extra textures to compensate.

set it to 0 and AW uses your whole graphic ram
if you google for tweaks it is one popular tweak
VenomBlades 6 DIC 2014 a las 10:06 a. m.
Yes I saw those sites, but all of them suggested to put it at "1" so the game "knows how much VRAM you really have", but that caused even more stutter for me. They also implied that putting it at 1 is the same as putting it on 0, so I didn't try out 0 at the time.

Anyhow, thanks for sharing. 0 or 0.5 basically has the same effect. In any case, the game will fill your whole VRAM, it just seems like the lower the value, the better it will work.

I tried this out today, & it definitely improved the stuttering. Unoptimized maps still drop frames, but I can set certain settings to extra now no problem, along with AA up a bit more too.

Maybe that's why by default it was like 0.85 or something to stop the stuttering and folk puting it up to 1 only making it worse since it will start spilling and stuttering in return. tut tut

After play 1-2 hours it begins stuttering, then became laggy as hell over time, specially for some maps (ex. defender).

And this works for me. Thanks a lot!!!
I set it to 0 and I can play for hours continuously now.

This works like a charm. Before doing that, I couldn't play with extra textures because of the stuttering, but now I can play with all maxed out except supersampling.
I think everyone should hear about this simple but much useful fix.

Set it to 1 or 0.85 by default will cause stutter, this means some coding bug about memory distribution. Set to 1 the game will claim all your graphic card memory, but the desktop needs about 300M and this conflict against the game's demand. Set it to 0.85 will conserve 15% for desktop but may still not enough.

I'm not a programer just guess, any expert?

I had mine set to 1 from a tweak site, but I'll set it to 0 and report back with how it went.
Edit: Placebo. It's not any better, if anything it's worse.

Try 0.5 or some value between 0 and 0.85. Also, just curious which GPU you have?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I just changed it to 0.5 and it really works !!! and I didn't see any different in fps count before and after but the stuttering definitely GONE. running it on high setting, FXAA OFF, Vsync ON, got about 30 - 45 fps and never dip below 25 fps which is still playable for me with my low end laptop spec (my graphic card is only HD 8750m, so... yeah..). But you can't use automatic detection anymore because it will set any auto setting to low

AMD A10 5757m

I can't belive it worked... I was just like magic, I set the "r_videomemoryscale" = "0.5" and boom... Suddenly the game worked like wonders... How did you manage to figure that out??? Thank you very much...
a.j 4 ENE 2015 a las 1:08 p. m.
hmm interesting before this I could only play with textures on low anything above that = stutter, max AA, max everything but not textures.. now with "r_videomemoryscale" = "0.5" I can set the texture quality to extra without noticing any stutter.
ReapeR 4 ENE 2015 a las 2:12 p. m.
very interesting indeed, tried it now on my 770 and on another pc with 550ti and both worked better with 0,5 stuttering is eliminated except from defender and recovery.

This forum needs more articles like this, enough endless argument and complaints.

I didn't have performance problems with this game until the 2 newest pile of trashes were released.

My game stutters and freezes for who knows how long when loading just the main menu or create a class, music stops and starts playing again often....god, what the ♥♥♥♥ did they do with the last patches, I am wondering. They didn't even fix some critical bugs that have been on this damned game ever since day-zero came out (and I was one of those poor basterds).¨

Oh and before I had the preloading turned on the every time I played this piece of ♥♥♥♥. And now if I turn it on, the problems will become worse: Even more massive freezes and stutters more often, games wont even load....god.
