91 FPS and stutter
The game stutters . And after extensive testing it doesn't have to do with VRAM , not with the graphics settings . I am now 90% sure that it has to do with the in game fps cap of 91 fps . It is a known proven fact that frame limiters induce stuttering to many games . The frame limiter in AW may be bulit in but that doesn't change the fact that it still is a frame limiter . When i locked the game with vsync at 60 fps ( essentially removing myself the 91 fps cap ) the game did not stutter a bit . I have a powerfull system by the way . And i do know the difference between reduced frame rate due to hardware not efficient and stutter . I now tried something different . I have an Acer Gsync monitor . I changed my refresh game from within the game at 85 HZ . So i forced it to remove the 91 fps cap , by setting a cap myself with gsync at 85 hz . No more stutter . Fluid motion . Basically the same solution as setting 60 fps with vsync . I think that they either have to remove the 91 fps cap , or fix the stutter while keeping the frame limit . With the exact same settings the single player runs flawless , with zero perfomance issues . In the beggining i said that i am 90% sure . I keep 10% for stuttering due to connection issues that i think we all have due to P2P servers that activision is using .

To anyone who has read my first post , i now am 100 % sure that i've found the stutter free solution . You have to enable VSYNC or GSYNC ( if you are lucky ) . Then you have to make sure that your refresh rate does not exceed the 91 fps cap . That applies to 120 hz and 144 hz monitor owners . I put mine at 85 hz . Then in order to fight input lag caused by VSYNC , download RIVATUNER STATISTICS SERVER . Create a profile for the multiplayer exe of the game and without touching anything else , set a frame rate limit of at least 2 frames down the refresh rate . Let's say if you have 60 hz , then set the limit to 58 fps . I found that only RIVATUNER FRAME RATE LIMITER works ok , because other frame limiters like Nvidia inspector , cap the frame rate through driver level and most of the games including this one doesn't like it and stutter even worse . For me right now the MP doesn't stutter and i can even see it with fraps . No more drops in game .

I dont think that is the solution.

I had all of these stutter issues, (think it is because AMD or something) But after the update i no longer get any! Game runs smooth!

I think it is fine now as u updated the game!

or you can unlock it with the fps unlocker thats been released.

thing is i still get drops to 30fps and goes all way upto 300fps in different parts of maps inconsistant

Where did you see an FPS unlocker released?

From what i see in the update notes , there is none performance improvement . But i will try it tomorrow to see if you are correct .

Thing is that i never experienced , not one , these huge frame rate drops you are describing . I always was fixed at 90 - 91 and the stutter i am describing is something like an one second spike down to 87 - 88 , which not only looks and feels bad , but makes you lose your aim also . The same thing happens in the menu too . That's why is so stuttery . With the solution i suggested the frame rate never drops below the cap that i inserted and the stutter is all gone . I've tested it in multiple matches . SP worked fine for me , at least in the first three missions . Not a single stutter . Fluctuating frame rates , yes , stutter no . It has to be the 91 fps cap in MP .

this helped me but would still like to see 120fps though

If the only thing the OP did was change a setting within his monitor's menu's, then he just altered what his monitor is showing him, and not anything else. Your monitor, which is not connected to the game engine or network in anyway, is doing the work of smoothing out what you see.

Changes must be made within windows and/or in game as well. If that was done too, then disregard.

Other COD games use the same engine, and none of this is needed to make the game run smooth. AW is the first PC COD I've played that needs so much ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with config files, vid card control panel and 3rd party bs. BLOPS2 for example, I can just start up, set my keybinds, audio stuff, video settings and get to fraggin. It just worked...my enjoyment, or not, of the game was never related to anything but the game play.

In reality, the only way the 'stutter' can truely be fixed is within the engine, or with better optimization etc.

I think a highly modified Unreal Engine 2 would be a good replacement for COD's highly modded Q3 arena engine. They both are more or less the same age. UT2k4 was built on that engine. Or Unreal Engine 3 perhaps.

This is nothing to do with settings, it's a game issue.

From reading another post on how dedicated servers are selected, it could be that the dedi is having issues, causing stutter.. because it doesn't appear to be connection related and it's not that often (for me).

Try disabling the caching options. It fixed any stuttering I had and may work for you also.

be careful using those fps limiters/unlockers. Ppl claim getting banned cuz of that stuff.
