Another Fisherman's Tale

Losing sound occasionally
I'm still working my way through the game (yes, I'm a bit slow at figuring things out), but some of that time has been because I've had to close the game and restart ... thus losing any unsaved progress that I had made.

The reason? Twice now, the audio has just cut out, for seemingly no apparent reason. When that happens, the game continues to be fully (visually) functional (I can move around and have full hand control), but simply there is no sound. If I temporarily invoke the Steam VR menu, the audio returns to the extent that I can hear the beeps and tones as I try selecting different menu options (which indicates the audio problem is with the game only), but once I return to the game, the audio is gone again.

The only solution I've found is to exit the game (thus losing my unsaved progress) and return to the Steam VR home. (Once I'm back in the Steam VR home, full audio has returned.) At that point, I can then immediately relaunch Another Fisherman's Tale and everything seems to be fine ... sound has been restored. Unfortunately, as I said, in doing so, I've lost my unsaved progress and have to start that part over again. (Of course, I could have continued to play the game without any sound, but it just isn't the same.)

It has only happened twice now, and so far I haven't been able to attribute the sound failure to any particular action that I might be performing at the time. I can however say that this is the only VR game in which I'm experiencing this problem.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what might be going on?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, thanks for playing the game and taking the time to report.

I think It's the first time we hear someone is having this kind of issue and it may be related to your specific setup, so it's a bit unclear how we can help.

The only similar issue we've been aware of is when user change the application that is in focus on windows for another application than the game. Maybe there is something on your setup that makes the game lose the focus on windows. Have you seen anything popup on your computer after hearing the sound going silent ?

Other questions that may help troubleshoot or reproduce the issue:
- Are you using headphones from the index or external ones ?
- Are you launching the game in VR from the steam VR menu interface from the beginning or you use the desktop icon?

Don't hesitate to move forward the conversation over at support@innerspacevr.com it's a bit easier to track for us when there is more investigation needed (I'll post an update here if we find something ultimately).

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I will certainly follow-up as needed, using that link to support. Meanwhile (just FYI), to answer your questions ... I'm using the built-in Index headphones, and I always start the game from within the VR (home) menu interface. However, I will try to be more aware the next time, just in case it is a matter of losing focus or some other popup.

Thanks again for your reply. (PS: Love the game!)
