1. Always make sure your GPU drivers are updated. Always do a clean install.
2. When updating your GPU drivers, always check for updated audio drivers as well. So many people forget that.
3. This game is poorly optimized. It was desigend for the console platform and was ported over to PC very, very poorly. Its literally only "PC compatible." So, if you are using a top end GPU and getting horrid frame rates, there is nothing that will fix that. The best you can do is use 3rd party software to help mitigate FPS drops and their frequency.
4. Never overclock your GPU or CPU for the sake of this game. For the reasons why, see #3.
5. For some reason, i5 systems tend to have a more issues with CODAW than anyone else. Its not to say that all i5 systems have trouble. Issues just happen to be more frequent with i5 systems.
6. Win10 and CODAW do not like each other. Some players use Win10 and have no issues. But, there are more reported problem with Win10 users than Win8.1 or 7. If you have issues and are using Win10, I would seriously recommend rolling back to Win8.1 or 7.
7. GeForce Experience is garbage. Get rid of it. Even when it is "disabled," there is a bootstrapper.exe file that keeps running in the background and its a resource hog. It cannot be "disabled." I suspect GeForce experience is responsible for numerous crashes and freezes.
8. Run the game in full screen mode. Playing in windowed or borderless windows taxes the GPU resources because the GPU continues to draw whatever is in the desktop screen along with rendering the game. I suspect this also is the cause of some crashes and freezes for some players.
9. If you are connecting to your network via WiFi, sudden interruption in your WiFi signal can cause freezes and crashes. The game does not handle sudden interruptions in online data streams very well. If you have a dual band WiFi, I strongly recommend using the 5GHz side. But, you will need to have a clear LOS to the router i.e. no walls or floors between you and the router. If you do not have a dual channel router, your 2.4 GHZ signal may be overlapped by someone within your router's broadcast range. There is freeware you can download that will tell you what channels are in use within your broadcast range. Select the channel that is least used. Also, Smart TV's, microwave ovens, cell phones, power lines and just about anything else that has a strong enough electromagnetic field will disrupt your Wifi signal. Keep that in mind.
10. If you are hard connected to your network, make sure you have a quality CAT5 or 6 cable.
11. If you play your games on a smart TV or monitor and connect with an HDMI cable, that can cause crashes and freezes with some systems. Its also a source of vid card lag.
12. CODAW does not like SLI mode.
13. A clean hard drive is a happy hard drive. Defragment on a regular basis.
14. Use a quality malware solution. McAfee is not a quality solution.
15. When in doubt, check the integrity of the game cache.
16. Fort some, the best solution is to simply just uninstall.
Unless and until the game devs actually develop a COD title specifically for the PC platform, rather than porting over the console version, there will always be all sorts of issues. The repeated use of the antiquated Quake engine does not help either.
Remember, these are just tips and are not to be taken as gospel. Solutions that work for one user may not work for another who has the same or similar issue(s).
Welcome to CODAW.
Seen this before and if you got tons of room look to see paging file limits.
The usual make sure all drivers are up to date and double check your game file integrity
But the game still just freezes and just stays like that
