The OP mentioning outputting to 5.1 gave me an idea. This is for anybody running Stereo speakers like I am along with Realtek Audio and getting inaudible voices in the cutscenes after the patch.
Go to the Realtek Sound Manager. Set the Speaker Configuration to 5.1 Speaker, and then uncheck Center and Rear Pair. You can run a test too to see if the audio is coming through. This should let you hear the voices in the cutscenes now.
