What is "dedicated servers"?

Pardon my ignorance, can anyone tell me what dedicated servers means?

Right. That is the only plus to dedicated servers. If the good ones, the "official" ones are full, then you troll around to find another that doesn't have stupid rules, or annoying players or administrators. It was more of a chore for me in the past with dedicated servers.

I know what dedicated server is. I invented it.

Dedicated server is a feature that Activition disable from its games in order to piss its paying customer. The benefits of disabling dedicated server is that its paying customer cant ever play on server that can provide low latency and consistent pings.

By disabling dedicated server, Activision has proved that they are the most evil publisher in the world. Also, remember kids, I invented dedicated server.

That was not his point. Maybe you should learn to read. 70% of players servers are utter garbage if you just want to play the game as it was released and without some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ custom rulesets made by a 15 year old that got overwhelmed with all the details he can change and totally felt the compulsive need to really do change every single detail because... you know, hes cool and all. After going back to an older game my rose tinted glasses came off... god what a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hassle... getting booted by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ admins and serverrules that make no sense. Hitting someone with a knife kills yourself.... yeah right. If the ♥♥♥♥ admin knew what he was doing, hed disable knifes alltogether but hey.

All games that are MP should have dedicated servers no matter whether it's on console or PC. It's time for devs to step it up. Nobody should be playing peer-to-peer garbage any more for big budget AAA games.
