Cutscene stuttering and subsequent freezes
I get severe, game-breaking audio and video stutter during cutscenes (including the Activision intro). This sometimes leads to the mouse freezing in the UI (requring an alt-tab to fix), and other times leads to the game freezing on a black screen (after some pre-mission cutscenes - task manager reports as "not responding" and it doesn't appear recoverable). Sometimes the cutscenes recover from choppiness and continue smoothly, other times not. SP on the optimal nVidia Experience settings (which happen to also be the highest, minus supersampling) during gameplay hovers around 110FPS with a minimum of 64FPS, running at 2560x1080 (21:9), as reported by FRAPS.

I have a Gigabyte WindForce nVidia GTX 970 4GB, Intel i5-2500K, 16GB Crucial DDR3 RAM, and a GA-Z68p-UD3P using onboard RealTek sound to headphones via the rear panel, front speaker jack. All of my drivers (GFX, Mobo, CPU, Audio, Windows, etc) are bang up to date, including nVE's "Game Ready" driver, all running on Windows 7. I've tried frigging around with options in the video settings of the game for an age, including settings specifically related to cutscenes. Some changes to options have been suggested as fixes in various "We just want traffic, we don't actually know how to fix this" sites and some forums, but none work. I've also tried with GameBooster running on or off in the background, and I've stopped and disabled Ad-Aware in the background.

The only marginal success I've had is forcing it into 16:9. To do that I have to put the game into windowed mode (no matter what options I change in fullscreen mode relating to resolution or aspect ratio native or otherwise, the game forces a full screen stretched display). In windowed mode, forced against it's will to run at 16:9, the stuttering stops. Given that I've over a hundred other games in my library that this doesn't happen for, despite many being demanding, my suspicions are that their native support for 21:9 is bad and buggy.

I've scoured forums here and found nothing that works, but does anyone else have a similar problem or knows a working fix?

I got the same problem and nothing fixes it :( Every single "loading" video plays like it would be 5-6fps, while it is actually 60-63 fps and sound is also stuttering. I hope we get a fix in the first patch.. HOPE DIES LAST!

Stuttering and lip sync issues in cut scenes can be helped by disabling the shader preload during cut scenes option. Worked for me.

Not for me!

Are you using super sampling? That totally destroyed my performance. As soon as I disabled it, my game was smooth as butter.

The solution at the moment is to either run with Vsync OFF or use Adaptive Vsync. This also solves cutscenes going out of sync.

Super sampling renders the game at a higher resolution and then scaled down to your resolution, so you need really a lot of performance

I downscale games by adding custom resolutions in nvidia conrol panel i run cod at 2560x1440 downscaled to 1920x1080 and 3200x1800 for older games

I5-3570
8GB RAM
Asus Strix GTX 970
Windows 7
Same here and im fu*king tired of it !!
This game is again a bad port and not optimize at all ! seem to work well with older spec system
Maybe its the 900 series that have problem !?

As I mentionned I've frigged around in video settings to no avail. I've never had supersampling on, and whether or not the preloading option(s) are on or off makes no difference.

Ghosts had the same issue and it was never fixed.

Well, I've contacted Sledgehammer Games, I'll keep you posted when and if I get a reply.

Oh btw all you folk who also have this, is it on a 21:9 system for you too, or a different aspect?

What about borderless window? Worked for me on 4:3 aspect, all caching options off.
AdyBaby Nov 6, 2014 @ 5:19am
No joy for me, but then I can't force it into 4:3 on borderless window (always stretches the aspect).

do you happen to to turn Vsync on in full screen mode? I also have cutscene stuttering as well, I tried disable shader precache but it still stuttering. So I disable Vsync and it seem to fix the problem for now.
