I can't answer that as I haven't played enough of the game to know if offline XP is earned and kept permanently (I just took a quick look around this morning but didn't have time to play more than one Private Match).
I know that was the case in Ghosts (in Squads mode) and it worked very well for fans of bot play, like me. The main takeaway is that AW has a robust and fully-featured offline 'Combat Training' mode (and it isn't the Combat Readiness Program, which is more of a 'bootcamp', tbh). Just look for 'Private Match' under the main Multiplayer Menu and set up a match to your exact tastes, on any of the MP maps, with access to Loadout modifications, Difficulty, game mode modifcations, etc.
It would be great if we are able to at least rank up in Private Matches, but 'real' MP fans get a bit twitchy if they think offline players can take their offline rank into the online match. Doesn't bother me, since I never play the online game at all. It might be possible that what we earn in offline Private Matches we get to keep for offline play only. I'd be cool with that.
Not sure about that. This morning I set up a Private Match (and saved it as a preference) without any issues. I don't use passwording though, so I can't answer that.
I hear you. I think Battlefield consistently misses a trick with their refusal to create offline bot modes. I now will not buy into the Battfield games because of this. Yet, if they included the same kind of bot play across their MP maps as both Ghosts and Advanced Warfare do I would purchase a Season Pass for Battlefield in an instant. Their loss. I don't know if it's laziness, snobbiness or ignorance that stops them doing this, but frankly it's baffling.
The thing is, most companies don't want to cater to the non-multiplayer crowd. Every game needs to have a multiplayer element (I've seen people complain that Skyrim doesn't) and that now seems to be the focus.
What I really miss is the Rainbow Six system where you unlocked stuff whatever mode you were playing and your character was consistent across all modes. Given the success of CoD's clas system stemming from Modern Warfare I still can't believe they haven't latched onto the idea of persistent progression. It caters to everyone then with very little effort on their part. I'd love to play the camapign with my own classes based on the briefings.
Agreed. It's a real shame.
Classic games from a more civilised era. Greatly missed.
