I wish I could say that tractor is better but unfortunately after 20h I still don't know how to get it :(
The thing is, both, and I'm sure later on the rest of the vehicles will all have the same issue the first two do now. Something is badly wrong with the acceleration. You hit the gas and its like nothing nothing nothing BAM full power. instead of ramping up like its supposed to. The instant a player hits the acceleration key (W or S in this case) the vehicle should start SLOWLY creeping forward. not sit there revving the motor up to full, why the hell is it doing that? Devs when you leave work, and get in your car, and you hit the gas, does it sit there not moving, just revving higher and higher then about a second later it just dumps full power to your wheels and off you go out of control. That's how your car drives in real life right? No? Then why did you code the vehicles to be like that here? Please fix.
On top of that what in Gabe's name is going on with the suspension??? Cruising down the road and suddenly the truck starts bouncing all over the pace like I'm mudding through the woods, not driving down a smooth highway I plowed... The weird bit is when the tractor does the same thing! That "tractor" is a riding mower, and guess what most riding mowers in that style don't have... that's right devs SUSPENSION, it has none, so why oh why is our tractor bouncing like you're trying to trim the lawn on planet Bouncy Castle?
I love the game, clearing the snow is so satisfying, but the vehicle handling needs completely reworked. Acceleration is wrong, braking is wrong. steering left/right is too fast. lose the bouncy tractor and make it a solid tractor like it supposed to be. In a game where a lot of the gameplay revolves around driving, you may actually want to consider having drove something in real life first, because right now, these vehicles do NOT behave as one would expect.
Thanks, I guess I have to restart whole game because I didn't talk about tractor and now there's no NPC at this place....
This exactly. The suspension on the truck is the biggest problem. The thing just bounces so much. If you buy the biggest plow we have, (near end game currently) thendrive that and the truck down to the gas station road and just try to hammer it down that road. Every time the truck changes gears, the front end bounces for who knows what reason, which bounces the plow into the road, stops you dead in your tracks, then rinse and repeat the entire time you are driving.
The suspension is TOO SOFT and the rebound is way TOO EXTREME. It needs to be stiffer in both directions. The acceleration has a damn near 2 second delay from press of key until the vehicle actually moves forward. Thankfully its a unity game so if the dev won't fix it we can, but devs if you are reading this, this is bad, and I'm not trying to be rude but either your dev who coded the vehicles either has never drove a real vehicle, or has never drove one in a game, because nothing is right.
If they want this to be good with controllers, then the code needs to be able to understand the difference between 2% throttle and 98% throttle, and the 2 second delay needs to go the hell away. In fact even without controller, that needs to go away. There's absolutely 0 reason for it. You don't drive a normal car like that in real life, and you absolutely wouldn't be revving an engine for 2 seconds then dumping it into drive on ice and snow.
Again, like I said before I like the game and am enjoying it, but jesus the vehicle handling is bad. Its like the friction is so high the truck has to 150 shot nitrous itself to even be able to overcome the grip between tire and pavement.
So as it is now...
Acceleration - wrong
Suspension - wrong
Tire grip - wrong
transmission gearing - wrong (1st low, second normal, third truck gains diamond hands and tries to send itself to the moon)
Collision - not wrong but not right, clipping the sidewalks and guardrails needs fixed the plow shoving itself through the ground thus stopping the truck in its tracks, also needs its collision fixed
Very cool ideas, I like them. We will be thinking already after the launch. Only problem might be in the COOP version - as much as the idea of shared snow clearing sounds great, implementing it, doing the synchronisation and many other aspects to make it work well - could take a good six months - this is too much time for our programmer Arthur, we prefer to focus on adding new content, tasks, snow clearing instruments.
Thank you for your suggestions!
