Which is apparently what the AI does too. Mmm lovely a BTR60, some millitia units and a T34/85
Is this using the new V 1169 fasttrack? The AI was adjusted for its decisions on when to keep and when to upgrade or sell units, so that may also be having a factor. If you're not using the 1169 fasttrack, try it on there, because in the current public version the AI is a bit confused about army sizes.

good variety now that South Korea is reaching peace with everyone who cant reach it.
So there will be more marketplace fixes in the next version (not 1169 which is on the fasttrack now, but the next update next week)
I've played couple of hours and general world market sells only AT, ARTY and TRANSPORT units...or nothing at all. Never seen once INF or TANKS on world market.
Though if I go to direct trading with country and UNITS TRADING, there are all kinds of units. I can buy INF and TANKS directly from country-country trading screen.
I think that units that you can trade in country-country trading should be available at world market also? Or it depends on how good relations You have with country....that how many units you can buy from good-related country?
This is not how the system works. In the World Market Unit Trades, you can only by units that the World Market owns. When other nations sell stuff to the World Market, it will try to resell it to other regions. It will even lower the price over time, and scrap stuff if it stays too long on the market.
The market will be fairly empty if there are a lot of wars. This is for two reasons. First, nations at war will be trying to buy stuff from the market, reducing the available inventory. Second, nations not at war will be worried about what's coming and less willing to sell their inventory.
v.1170
World market still does not offer anything usefull...
No infantry
No tanks
Only leg Anti tank
AA only few towed barel ones (not even a KS-12/ KS-19) not a single rocket AA like SA-2
No artillery at all
Does the AI buy them off before I can even see them?
I like to play as an african country starting without any usefull unit designs. The market of the first version was a great gameplay improvement because i can buy simple units like BTR-60, BMP-1 and M113A1...
Anyone else having difficulties with this feature?
There are lots of private arms companies that design and produce new weapon systems like Denel, Lockheed Martin, Reinmetal, BAE Systems, etc.
They COULD be part of this feature by having them 'offer' their own products in here (maybe even give them separate category/tab to separate their offers from the global trash.
Basically they would offer a limited number of their own units periodically (maybe 1-3 units every month or so) for sale on the level that is fitting for the year (using year available/out of production unit entries to set when they should appear/disappear from the market.
That way a market will be populated with units that are fitting for the location (basically arms companies doing expo's and selling their products to any client interested). You would also be able to control what shows up and when by editing UNIT.DATA file for those units.
This could be expanded even more by adding production capabilities for some of those companies. They have their own private production factories around the world and a client can order a specific number of products for a company which will then be produced in those factories and delivered to the client. Game could have this abstracted and let player select a unit design available from a company (again, according to dates set in UNIT.DATA file) and order a specific number of those units. Duration and cost of those productions would be greater (maybe 2x or even 3x) more then you would need if you produced those yourself but it would allow regions with enough cash and not enough production capabilities to arm themselves. Maybe even allow regions to buy licences for those designs so that they could produce them themselves.
Am I the only one with this problem?
I check the world market each day in each of my games and there is no infantry or tanks or self propelled artillery comming in. Even in this build 1172 i can see no change.
If it is because the AI buys the units away immediately, is it possible to implement some kind of dwell time for the units?
The world market is such a cool feature. At least it was in the demo.
For me, this feature is actually the reason to switch from Ultimate to 2030 in the first place.
