New and Interesting Weapon Systems

What weapons systems do we need to ensure don't get missed during development of the equipment list for the game? We might not be able to make unique 3D models for everything, and some might not fit into the game system we have, but things like both tanks mentioned by that users and the new German Panther tank have already caught our attention. We'd welcome feedback on what else is new and noteworthy in military weapons?

I don't know if it is relevant, but robotic solders. As it is a more or less futuristic.

We're thinking a bit more "near term", systems that would go into development 2025 to 2035.

Laser systems seem to be the big upcoming thing especially in naval research when you look at countries like UK/USA starting to really delve deep into it. By 2030 it seems feasible there's a few nations mounting that tech.

ICBM-interception is a much bigger thing than in previous eras. the UK/France/Italy for example have ships in real life already that can intercept ICBMs from a few thousand km (and are increasing the range of those systems to deal with chinese launched missile threats), all 3 nations specifically use the same system too.

Active-protection would be the big thing for tanks atm, with new Leopard 2s and the Challenger 3 clearly getting serious hard-kill APS systems. Unsure how easy it would be to integrate such a system but it's clearly the definitive next step in tank development.

Another big thing that seems reasonable is increased integration of space assets in military use. Missiles to take down satellites have been a thing for a while, though I suppose it's more of a "system that would clearly be developed if a major war happened" rather than a natural evolution of warfare in the next few years.

Thanks for making a thread about this, Will the Challenger 3 model be updated to look like the real world model? The Russians have a new T-90 Called the T-90M Proryv-3 so that could be added in too. So many new weapons and vehicles to add.

Units from the Unit Overhaul Mod would be nice to see in SR2030. This mod has pretty much every up to date type of unit in modern world inventories and current development programs. In addition Electronic Warfare, Chemical Warfare, Mine Warfare, Asymmetric Warfare, Special Operations Warfare, and Drone Warfare. Also a majority of the major world powers orbats have been redone to to current modern day balance.
Check the attached changelog for all of the units that were added and orbats that were updated. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2845204802.

I would love to add some trainer aircrafts, although there's no use of it as training platform, but it usually used also as light attack aircraft with low cost and maintenance (good for supporting small allied country by selling it), example is the T-50 (F-50 of South korea trainer version), M-345 of the Italian airforce, Yak-130/M346 , AIDC T-5, Kawasaki T-4, the new US T-7 Red Hawk, and few others trainers, but these are the few that I think deserve a look to MAYBE be put in game.

Would love to see new brazilian frigates and infantary fighting vehicles!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamandar%C3%A9-class_frigate

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VBTP-MR_Guarani

Also, wouldnt make sense to delete some of the more basic naval unit types as really small (100 - 500 T ) patrol boats since they generally dont add anything to the AI fight and tend to spam?

i would love to add something about conscription to get extra reserve like putin is doing now,
also would be amaizing to add in the hotspots to select the number and type of units you want the AI to feel, for example 1AA 1ARTY 1 anti-tank 1 tank 1 recon 2 inft

We live in interesting times. Most countries, at least the ones who want to stay (or become) relevant are in the process of upgrading their armed force's capabilities. So, sorry for the long post.

Not sure if these have already been thought of, but the USAF's new B-21 Raider and NGAD program (due online in the latter 20's), the US Navy's F/A-XX Program, the French, German, and Spanish FCAS, the British Japanese, and Italian GCAP, the (soon to be?) new Russian Su-75 Checkmate and the other various 5th and 6th gen programs would be good adds.

Can't remember if the Su-57 Felon and F-15EX Eagle II are already a thing in the SRU base game.

Not sure how it could be done, but the Australian Loyal Wingman program would be a nice add too.

Not very knowledgeable on the ground side, but the US Army is about to field a new light tank (the MDF) and is developing the M1A2 SEPv4 along with the AbramsX tech demonstrator (not to mention the M1A2 export variant being shipped to Ukraine). Canada is upgrading to the LAV 6 and LAV 6 Recce.

On the naval side, the US Navy has confirmed the new Constellation class frigate (FFG-62) and Columbia class ballistic missile submarine (SSBN-826), and are planing on the DDG(X) program (replacing the Arleigh Burke and Ticonderoga classes) to be active around 2030-ish. The Admiral Gorshkov class that Russia has just fielded as well as their Lider (Shkval?) class destroyer/cruiser program. The British Type 83 destroyer is due to come online sometime in the late 30's. The new Australian SSN that will be out eventually (not sure they've even chosen a design yet).

There are quiet a few new expendables on the way out in the coming decade as well, mainly hypersonics. Hypersonic ASW, air to ground, and re-entry vehicle (HGV's) technologies will be entering inventories in large (ish) numbers by the end of the 20's (air to air too but that's not a thing in game I think?).

Every single one of the above mentioned can currently be found in the Unit Overhaul Mod for SRU + 100s more not mentioned. Hopefully the SRU unit file can be easily ported to SR2030.

I don't remember it having all of those units, but it's been a minute since I've used that mod (several updates at least) so my information might be wrong.

On the unit file side, not sure if porting the old file is viable, but I hope we get another tool like the asset manager fairly quickly. I can't actually remember the last time I played with a vanilla unit file, or without Nerei's amazing models for that matter. The asset manager just made tailoring the unit file so much nicer than the original method.

Some first thoughts.

As mentioned already germany is still stuck with the old Supreme Ruler Ultimate Database.

Best tank in the game is the the kinda old Leopard 2A6 while the german army is using the 2A7 meanwhile with the 2A8 in the pipeline.

Also simply remove the fictional TankTech07 "Katze" and replace them with the KF Panther series and a Leopard 2A9 as well.

Also Iam missing the Iris-T Anti Air guided rocket system.

And I highly doubt the german ministry of defence would name a upcoming modern artillery system "Uberhaubitze". Can we please take a more serious path here?

Do you have more suggestions? No one on our team even speaks German or is a German military expert. It's often a struggle to come up with realistic names, clearly we failed on this one.

Ticket 34345 for the future units/known designs updates overall.

I'd like to see modernised versions of the Cold war armour that are still prowling on todays battlefields, especially the upgrades made by other nations

M60 - Iranian Samsam, Turkish Sabra series, Jordanian Pheonix, Thai TIFCS, Taiwanese Upgrade
T-55 - Bangladeshy Durjoy, Egyptian Ramses II, Iraqi Al-Kafil I, Iranian Safir series, Israeili Achzarit, Pakistani Al-Zarrar, Slovenian M-55
T-62 - Algerian BMPT-62, North Korean Chonma-ho V
T-64 - Ukrainian T-64BV
T-72 - Iranian Rakhsh, Syrian Golan-1000

Most of these are very modern and will be an important tool in the arsenals of all the aforementioned nations for the decades ahead. For ones in series, it would be cool to see them incorporated into the upgrade system

Oh and America's NGAD 6th gen fighter ofcourse
