Your GPU, look at your GPU, there is your problem, you shouldn't expect any good framerate with that.

"what does it take to actually run this?": Anything that is actually meant for modern gaming!

Integrated Graphics and a low end celeron (didn't even think they still made those) and you were expecting it to be playable? Not a chance, you need a decently powerful computer to play this smoothly (30fps+).

Just the fact that it says "celeron"! lol... plus integrated graphics... wow... with lowest settings you could be able to run it on a decent processor but on a celeron? no way...
You haven't wasted your money since the game is still yours... thing is you can't play it properly untill you get a machine that can run it ¬¬

This game has my watercooled titan sli rig working hard. go big on the gpu

when it's on the console you wont have to worry, the performance will be crap...and theres nothing you can do about it. lol

Yeah it's pretty intensive, but it is hilariously perfect with ubersampling on.

Witcher 2 is on Xbox 360. Also, use systemrequirementlabs.com to check if you can run a game in the future.

I tried running The Witcher 2 on an
AMD 64 3Ghz (4 cores)
4GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA 8800 GTS
and i got barly 30fps in 800x600 lowest Details..

Then i bought the 'Gigabyte Radeon HD 7770 OC Grafikkarte (PCI-e, 1GB, GDDR5 Speicher, miniDP, HDMI) ' for ~ 85€ and now I can run it smoothly @ 1280x720 with everything high.

!! Try upgrading your Videocard / Graphiccard first. Its not the most expensive investment, it brings you the most performance increase and u can most likely still use it on your next PC !!

Top tip: A good gaming laptop can cost well over £1,000. Don't buy a cheap laptop if you want to play games. You need an nvidia chip starting with GTX or a good amd(like a 7850M) graphics chip. You also need a good CPU, not a Celeron. These two parts need to be the best you can afford, as these are not upgradable in most laptops. You also need to keep the laptop plugged into the mains when playing games as it will go through the battery in no time.

Yep, the processor apparently needs an upgrade.

Not trying to be rude, but if those are the specs of your new PC, dang your old one must have been uber crud. Just because a PC comes with the latest iteration of windows does not mean it is fit to run games older than the PC itself. You got screwed for your money IF you bought that computer with playing games on it as a priority. Celeron processors are for running word processors and spread sheets.
ultraglorious Sep 9, 2013 @ 9:54am
This is a laptop, right? Upgrading this is basically impossible. Pretty much your only option is an external graphics card.

no thats not entirely true, with my new PC it didnt cost much and it was certainly half the price of my old PC, but now i can run most of my games on high settings

my old PC was not meant for gaming but my new one is, its just that some games having a much higher demand in power

If you think any PC with integrated graphics and a celeron processor is meant for gaming you are a bleeding fool. Look up the Gaming CPU Hierarchy chart. Your CPU is basically 2 processors at 1.8Ghz each and that is slower than the second coming of christ. WWW.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Celeron+B830+9640+1.8GHz.

I cant say it enough. Just cause you can run games your old PC could not. Doesnt mean your new PC is made for gaming. Celeron CPU's were made by Intel for the Low end consumer market and becuase its power requirements are so low, it is unlikely your power supply unit has a high enough wattage rating to push even the cheapest of GPU's

You will find yourself unable to run a bunch of the newer game titles, and it wont be the game's fault.
