The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

Aerondight and Raven's Armour crappy?
So, in the first Witcher game, depending on how you play, you can recieve the following:

1) Aerondight

This mystical sword is supposedly on par with the legendary 'Excalibur'. It's a treasured blade bestowed upon you by the 'Lady of the Lake', meant to slay all monsters. Upon recieving the blade Geralt was both stunned and humbled at the same time because of it's magnificence.

2) Raven's Armor

This set of armor is SOO legendary and SOO historically significant, Geralt had to search high-and-low, inspecting each side-quest carefully just to recover the possible plans and pieces. It was forged by the gnomes of Mount Carbon and finished by elves! It was the 'holy grail' of all Witcher armours.

Anyway, turns out in the 'Witcher 2' that it's all just junk. The 'Lady of the Lake' gave you 'tin foil wrapped on a stick' and you're actually wearing a cardboard cosplay armor. As a matter of fact, some back-water smith at a harbour town has better gear then that in his back-pocket.

So I guess what I'm asking is.... what gives?

It would be rather unbalanced if you could start the game with great equipment. The FCR2 mod makes them more impressive than they were in the normal game.

Well, instead of letting the player use these "epic items" I think it would have just been more clever to simply add an explaination of why the items aren't there:

ie: Aerondight was returned to the 'Lady of the Lake' for safe-keeping until he would need it again some day.

Anyway, something like that would have been better then having 'Common Rusty Sword' deal 15% more dmg. then an enchanted blade.

I agree completely. It's all for balancing, and it sucks. I hate the times when I have to put my Aerondight and Raven armor in the chest because they're just not feasible weapons anymore.

IKR! they could have at least given the raven armor some kind of unique perk. like how hard would it have been to lower the odds of being stunned or some crap? could have at least made it worth more. its been 9 years and im still POed about this, and i plan on being POed about it for another 20.
