Dice Poker, what are the odds?

How can you be good at dice poker, i lose 4 of 5 games...
Most of the time you have one pair on the first roll, so i try to get more of the kind, if i have two pair i roll for a full house, if i have 2 3 4 5 +x i roll for a straight.
BUT as often as i hit the full house the opponent leaves just one pair and gets a four of a kind.
Two pair loses almost every time, and three of a kind often lose to a higher three of a kind.

So shall i go for just a 6 even if i already have a lower pair in order to get the potential higher three of a kind, even though chances are significantly lower?

Haha yeah Dice poker is rubbish apart from in the first one, you get to play Foltest in it and I think all the orens I earned in the whole game I lost in a match with him:D

Oh man, I remember that! I actually ended up winning with all sixes the first time around and became a dice poker legend. :D Sadly I never got to use those orens afterwards.

Yeah it was a total waste of 8000 orens to give it to us at the end. I felt kind of annoyed my premium poker skills were not carried over to Witcher 2 with my save file. I beat a King, I shouldn't have to play any scrubs anymore.
