[Settings]
Ubersampling: OFF (damn near slays my pc)
Texture downscaling: NONE (Which technically is highest)
Motion Blur: OFF (I hate that crap! - personal preference)
Dangling Objects Limit: OFF (Which technically is highest)
Vertical Sync: OFF ('Cause I don't see the point in this game)
Everything else set to their highest setting...
[Performance]
Action
55-80fps
(I'm in control and can run around and slay people)
Cinematic / Talk sequence
35-118
(a little all over the place - dunno why, doesn't feel laggy though and seeing as I don't need to be able to react very fast to anything it doesn't matter much, only including it because it is rendered in realtime within the game engine)
The official (minimum) requirements are:
CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
RAM
1 GB Windows XP / 2 GB Windows Vista and Windows 7
Video Card
512 MB RAM, supporting Pixel Shader 3.0 (NVIDIA GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon HD 3850)
Your CPU should be suficiant (despite being a mobile processor), plenty RAM - buuuut I don't think your graphic card is going to run it very well, maybe at the absolute lowest settings...
I actually doubt that my laptop with a dedicated GT540 will run it much past medium...
But I have yet to encounter a game that couldn't be played on systems way below what they posted as a minimum, I think their minimum should be followed by "- if you want it to look and play as we intended" a Nvidia catch phrase for devs I guess ;)
As for you comment on games being worth the price of admission - in this case the hardware, I would say it comes down to the eyes of the beholder, some people love games for their graphics and style others for the sheer gameplay...
And then there's those of us in the middle, I like when a game hits a great and beautiful graphics style even if I have to play around with settings to squeeze the last few fps from my graphics card or even at the cost of a few fps - however I have always felt that graphic quality comes second to actual gameplay and I will probably always feel that way 'cause who gives a crap if a game looks like real life if all characters in it does the stop motion dance lagging through at 1 fps!
As a final note I am happy to se some devs being able to balance the pursuit of having the best looking in-game graphics with great gameplay like Metro Last Light - it looks bloody awesome but is capable of running with very minor hiccups and bumps in the road on my GTX670 FTW...
I started this topic because i only can play the game with almost no fps issues if i am on low settings with 1920x1080 resolution. In medium settings and high settings i get bad game playability...
My PC specs are :
