Controller or keyboard and mouse?
I just started the game and I was wondering if its better to play it with the keyboard and mouse or with an xbox controller. What do you guys reccommend?

Keyboard & Mouse 10/10. Much more ergonomic and customisable.

i had trouble using the keyboard... the hotkeys for your spells are something like 5-9.. just try using a spell assigned to "9" while walking backward trying to dodge the swords coming at you lol.. it gave me a hard time, and targeting enemies using the mouse when in 3rd person also gave me headaches

but then i switched to my ps3 controller, and combat became so much more enjoying

you can do everything a keyboard does using your controller, so while the other user suggested keyboard, i'd definitely go for the controller.

I'll second the controller, I have a 360 controller and it was fantastic.

Despite being a PC game, control and UI is built for a controller rather than keyboard. However I find it easier to aim with mouse for Bomb. Yes, bombs, loads of them, bomb the heck outta thuggie groups, I make a bucket loads of them because despite some other people claim ingredients are "hard" to come by, monsters and plants respawn everyday so you kinda get yourself unlimited alchemy resource.

On my first playthrough I played with K&M. I switched to controller for my second playthrough and I enjoy it more. Try them both and see which one you like.

I have been considering using a controller for this game. I've been playing with K&M and been thinking that it's kind of twitchy using it. Especially for locking on to a target.

You should not lock target when fighting. As with other freeflow combat games (Batman/Sleeping Dogs) I find it much better to fight multiple enemies or even single enemy without locking target, and I play only on Hard difficulty.

I've been exclusively a PC gamer for almost a decade, so I was very skeptical about using a controller; however, I actually ended up enjoying playing with a controller more than KBM.

Combat with controller, everything else keyboard and mouse.

Maybe it's just me but the aiming sensitivity on this game when using a gamepad just makes it unplayable, I twitch the the joystick to the left slightly and my cursor is suddenly thrust 90 degrees.

Well, I'm about 20 hours into the game and I've been using the keyboard and mouse and it works perfect to me. I'm sure it works solid on the controller as well. I like how the space bar does a roll away from enemies. Definitely not configured badly in my opinion.

I usually play RPG's with Keyboard and Mouse. I tried both for Witcher 2, and I must say, it somehow is easier and a more fun with the controller, especially the fights go much smoother.
So In my opinion, the controller is better for Witcher 2.

It's not just you. My geralt flies all over the place from the smallest touch of the joystick. Does anyone know of a mod or tweak for this? I already turned the sensitivity all the way down in the settings.
