.NET Framework not installing.

I'll click to play the game, go through the usual installation of software I already have process, and the game then bogs down when I reach this point. After about ten minutes, I hear a "ping" and click back, apparently the the installation has failed.

I'm sure this is an issue for more than just me, but I don't really know where to start. So let's ask the internet! ;D

I'll post my specs if needed, but this doesn't seem like something where it will be necessary.

Great, now I can't remember my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ password to the Steam Powered forums to +Rep that OP.

Oh well. Inputting the fixes detailed there, wish me luck. And kudos, for the find.

EDIT: Huzzah on toast! While I'm admittedly now having issues with the Launcher itself, at least it's no longer getting stuck in the installation process. PROGRESS!

EDIT 2: Disregard much of the above statement. Game gets up and running quickly enough, and I make it to the main-screen without a hitch. On that note, this was by far one of the best Opening Cinimatics I've ever seen to a video game.

I'm having the same problem, every time I boot up the game always appears "The first configuration run the Microsoft.NET Framework." After a few seconds the game starts.
Is it normal every time you install .NET Framework?
Already checked my HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Valve \ Stea m \ Apps \ 20920]:
"DirectX" = REG_DWORD: 0x00000001 (1)
"VCRedist" = REG_DWORD: 0x00000001 (1)
"dotNetFx40" = REG_DWORD: 0x00000001 (1)

try going into SteamApps folder > common > witcher 2 and rename redist to something like redist_ that should work

OH MY GOD.
this game is so hard to even start!
it just goes on a random "first time installing 1.....2...." then it closes.aha.so i click on "launch game"..then it does the same.

I WANT TO PLAY MY GAME!!!!
im gonna go and uninstall this game until they patch it.
this is tragic and pathetic.
are they sponsored by microsoft???

Im pretty sure you can also Download The Witcher 2 from the GOG.com Website. You'll need to register and all that fun stuff. But it basically fixed all the startup problems I've been having.

I understand some may not like this method. But to each his own
