The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

If you buy The Witcher 2 on Steam...
You get a CD-key that also works on GoodOldGames (GOG). This not only provides you with a DRM-free copy of the game... but a plethora of bonuses in the form of soundtracks, game guides, artwork, manuals and so on.

(You can do this by clicking here[www.gog.com], you probably need a free GOG account to do it. Go to The Witcher 2 in your Steam Library and click 'CD Key' on the right for the product key.)

And that's on top of the post-release support that has been given to the game. CD Projekt RED are one of the few developers/companies that really "get it" when it comes to PC gaming and making their customers happy. They mean business when it comes to no-DRM and trusting their customers to support them.

If you're on the fence with this game, consider supporting developers like this as part of your investment.

(Hopefully this isn't against the rules, it is kind of a shameless plug. But I figure it can only help sales on Steam if people know they will get two copies of the game, bonuses and that warm fuzzy feeling that they made a good choice for the cheap daily deal price... and any Steam deals in the future...)

Projekt RED seems like a group of really awesome, consumer-driven guys.

Nope, doesn't seem to work when I try redeeming on GOG with the CD Key.

I'd suggest going to GOG support then, or straight to CD Projekt RED. I wouldn't say "nope" so confidently though, it definitely works.

afaik, soundtracks, artwork and everything else are downloadable via the steam client. Library --> tools --> The Witcher 2: Bonus Content
they're all downloaded and you can do what you want with it.. this also includes the apparently super famous triss playboy renders.

I stand corrected. I should have used your link above rather than using the redeem code page at GOG. All these links in GOG I didn't know existed and can't seem to find.
Thanks so much for the info!

And I stand corrected as well, it appears much of this is available on Steam.

Doing this does provide you with a DRM-free executable to install the game though, so you have access to a Steam-less copy of the game that you can keep forever-dy ever and ever.

I am painfully tempted to dl a drm free version and put it on a bluray disc for the future... I absolutely love the game and it was beautifully fantastic..

CD Projekt RED are bunch of gamers first, then developers.

thank you very much for this post. I didn't know about such a possibility to have a DRM-free game. It worked for me, and now I have a copy of Witcher 2 on my GOG.com account.

By the way, it is actually possible to do the same trick with EA games - you can activate them in Origin service as well, if you have a CD-key.

Normally I'm not on the "hating EA" bandwagon... but while that is true, I suspect it isn't quite as noble of a cause. The product you activate on Origin isn't DRM-free. The motivation behind it is pretty clearly to open the doors to spending more time (or money) on their service, as Steam's competition.

The Steam version of the game has NO DRM what so ever I am not really sure what some of you are talking about there is NO DRM in the Steam version and that was verified quite some time ago.

Steam is a DRM btw.

You still need to use Steam before you can play the game.

Steam is DRM, you need the client running to play your games. The only thing you need for the GOG copy is the game executable.
