Getting Past the Kayran
I am a very poor game player and simply cannot get past the Kayran - even on easy setting -, so I am stuck. has anyone got a suggestion that will help me, such as a cheat or a saved file that could be sent to me at jhamilton.redstack@hotmail.com ? I would really welcome some help because I love this game and want to go on!
Thank you to all you experts out there,
John Hamilton

Play on Easy with Difficult QTEs off. If possible take a potion that increases Vigor regeneration like Lapwing and to balance out the side effects take Swallow to increase vitality regeneration. Use Quen to be shielded at all times. Roll a lot (under Space) to avoid being hit. Don't run too far away from the Kayran or you'll get caught in sticky goo and you'll have to QTE yourself outta it.

Put Yrden to trap Kayran's tentacles more or less exactly in the places where this guy places it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=CA5UJXZwyWs#t=71s Notice that when trying to trap the 3rd tentacle at first he places Yrden too close to the centre. The correct place to place it will be the one at 3:46. You have to act as a sort of a living bait for the tentacles, possibly roll this way and that around Yrden. If you get hit don't worry vitality will partly regenerate while you are cutting off the trapped tentacle. But keep in mind Quen stops Vigor regeneration and you should have enough Vigor to place another Yrden trap - roll without Quen on if you are at 0 vigor. You are safe when cutting off tentacles so let vigor regenerate then and put Quen back on after you're done and then roll away quickly.

After cutting off 3 tentacles get ready for a ride on the 4th one. Prepare for a mashing QTE, you're gonna have to mash the left mouse button really fast (if you have a weak graphics card you may have problems with that due to input lag). After the 4th tentacle is cut off run to the platform created by the falling bridge. Run up the platform or even better - roll up the platform. When you manage to reach the top a cutscene is triggered and you won the fight.

Thank you for all that - you went to a lot of trouble and I appreciate it. However my difficulty is that I knew about what you helpfully set out as I had Googled on ways to beat the Kayran but still could not do it. I am a lousy player! What I really need is for anyone who is playing on a PC[/b] (I dont know if you are) to go into their C/Documents/Witcher2/gamesaves folder and send me a copy of the file just after the Kayran, which should be Autosave_0089.sav

I dont know if you can help me further that way, but many thanks any way.

The numbering of saves will be different for everybody as is most of the builds that would be different as well . It would be best if you were to send a copy of your saved game to someone and let them play it through for you and then upload to a site where you can download it . If you visit the witcher forums you can find me there as *Tommy*
It will be easier to use a trainer to cheat your way through (look up at gamecopyworld or search for "witcher 2 3.2 trainer" or something).
Resist the temptetation to have it always on, games are less fun when you're invincible :p
Thank you Tommy, and i will take advantage of your generous offer IF i cannot download or work the trainer that Mehistohpeles (thank you too very much) suggests. That is right up my street and will avoid my having to badger someone every time I get to a difficult boss. What a wonderful forum this is!
lol if you get stuck on kayran i know another small boss section youre going to get stuck on..lol

but-but the kayran is so easy to kill! it's not even a real boss! it's just a big obstacle course that you can stab!

This is what I exactly did while playing the boss fight:

Before the fight: I drink the potion and change the sign, then I go down the path and start the cutscene where the Kayran appears.

During the fight: I quickly went to the left and dodged the first attack, then I activeted the sign and waited for the attack of the first tentacle of the left, after that I cut the 2 tentacles of the left and started to cut the first of the right side, after cutting it, I paused the game and made sure that the difficult QTE was disabled, then I turned it enable and then disabled it again just to make sure and returned to the game.
The tentacle came and Geralt automatically jumped on it and after that the yellow bar appeared, I started to click the left mouse button and filled the bar, but when the Kayran started the move to throw Geralt away, the action for me to press space did not appeared and Geralt fell off.

I cut the last tentacle and tried again but with the same results, I turned off the game, disabled everything that I could and lowered the rest that could not be disabled and returned to the game with the lowest resolution ( 640 x 480 ), the game was almost the same as before without many changes, only an impossible way to understand any text.

I loaded the auto-save on the cutscene and started the fight again, I did everything the same way, cutting 3 tentacles and starting the QTE, but this time, I disabled the difficult QTE before cutting the tentacles, but as before, Geralt kept being thrown off the tentacle, without the space action appearing, I tried the last tentacle but that time with the difficult QTE enable, I clicked the right mouse button the jump on the tentacle and filled the yellow bar easily as before, but again, the space did not appeared and once again Geralt was on the floor...

WHAT IS WRONG ?? T-T

it`s not enough to just fill the bar . You have to keep clicking the mouse until the bar fills and disappears . Then and only then will the rest play out .

I attempted it as well, but even after the yellow bar is full, I kept clicking and nothing appeared, Geralt went to the floor again and again T-T

I don`t know what brand your mouse is but there were a few instances where Razer mice with Razer software installed that for whatever reason would only register half of the clicks needed . In which case you can adjust the mouse polling rate . The other known instances of the qte bar not filling up and disappearing were computers and or video cards that were at the bare minimum specs .

The rate of the clicks of the mouse I'm using is on the default, never needed to change it, but I'm going to try that, but if it don't work I don't really know what to do :(

Thank you \o/

Tommy, I tried the mouse trick, but it is still not working, I fill the yellow bar and still keep clicking to make sure it's not a resolution problem making it only looks like it's full, but the Kayran keeps throwing Geralt to the ground T-T
