The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

Game design is very bad
Combat is very fun and keeps you in the action. I'm having a terrible time with everything else.

So far I've had all my save games deleted. Last night i went through and spend a half hour deleting the mass amount of excess saves that happen. Luckly i was just getting to the first town after the intro.

I then restarted and this time it didn't give me an option to not do the tutorial.

Then after the escaping part in the dungeon i was escorting aryan. I put him in a hall way and it's now not possible to get around him. It also only makes sense then you can't pick him up simply from behind or go around him so now im completely stuck in the dungeon.

So i try to load my last save and well......you can't. Dunno if it was just bugged, but i couldn't bring up the pause menu. ESC was doing nothing and so i had no way of even quiting the game and nothing can kill me

Terrrrrrible design decision's.

I never had these problems, sound like you either have problems on your end or you are terribly unlucky and get the worst situation possible, my bet on the first reason because what you are describing are bugs, not design decisions "Oh yeah, let's make it impossible to quit the game, people will surely like it!"...
Darkillius Dec 5, 2013 @ 9:49pm
The not being able to quit was a bug, but not being able to pick aryan back up from behind him is a design decision. An not a every well thought out one. It's very easy to place in a spot you either get trapped and can't pick him up again.

It's a very good game. It's just i find myself scratching my head at things that should be simple or fluid and things feel cramped and overly complicated for nothing.

Another absolute design flop and makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. I just found this flower at some lovers statue. I give triss a rose and these bandits walk up. I'm forced to fight these magical bandits who wield the strongest weapons i've ever seen. Shovels and rusty knives......the guy with the shovel deals a minimum of 100 dmg a hit. It takes him 2 hits to kill you. You can't block him and you can't use dodge. Not to mention you have to fight in an area way to small to actually avoid his hits.

Explain to me why these guys decided to have geralt not be able to use his swords or dodge. An that they gave some bandit using a shovel which does the most damage of any weapon or anything a monster has used so far in the game?

This game is wonderfully designed.

Savegames are a bit annoying. Go to C:\Steam\userdata\55559469\20920\remote and delete them, not one by one in game.

You're so right. It's such an amazingly brilliant designed game you can't delete indivdual saves in the actual game like your suppose to. You have to dig through your computer inorder to save the mass amount of save's. that is absolutely wonderful.....

I've just started this game and played through the really poor and buggy tutorial. I never had so many issues with a tutorial. The game doesn't create a good first impression.

I've already lost my enthusiasm for the game and I've barely started it. I hate forcing myself to play a game just because is is suppose to be good.

Sounds like #1 You might need to turn down the difficulty if you're having that much trouble. And #2 You can delete saves from ingame. Just go to load game and then hit the 'delete' button.

Wow, this guy completely went with a cliche copy and paste comment. I said the combat is great and i'm having absolutely no problem with that. In fact if it wasn't for the combat being difficult and fun i wouldn't of bothered to keep playing.

An for #2 in my first post i said i went and deleted each save and that deleted them all. The other guy gave me that other suggestion. Someone just went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The game is great. It's just it has some very sloppy and not well thought out GAME DESIGN'S. Which is something completely different than a combat system which is great in this game.

Bottom line; this game is awesome. There are a few minor inconventient design flaws, but nothing to take away from the overall good experience of playing it.

Yea, it's just a minor inconvenence, having to restart this kind of game from the very beginning. That is something that is very minor in RPG's.

I always thought the best part of skyrim is where you have all your saves erased. Mass effect where i'm forced to reload a save because the designers made it so i can't continue by putting a NPC down on the ground in a hall way because i cant pick him up or go around him.

i love this game as well as the first one. i do recommend the unofficial combat enhancement mod. it really makes this game top notch. don't worry about playing it vanilla first either, just get the mod and play the game that way.

I'll try the mod, is it on nexus?

Just be VERY careful installing this mod, and read the directions for both install and uninstall VERY carefully. I've read dozens of threads about that mod breaking people's games entirely because they installed, didn't like it and tried to uninstall it. This mod has the potential to break your game completely, which is much more than an inconvenience.

It should be noted, these people have tried deleting local files and reinstalling, as well as verifying, etc. to no avail. I can only hope it was an issue with an improper uninstall, but I don't have any definitive information there. I personally don't use the mod, nor do I plan to. But that's personal preference. Just use with caution.

It's called the "Full Combat Rebalance" or FCR. and yes, it's on nexus.
