first fighting problems

I dont kow if any one has had this problem, but during the fist fighting sequences in the game non of the controls respond and other than a 'flash' indicating which button to press, there is no way to play the game. i only got throught the prison with lucky button mashing. This is a bit game breaking. is there a fix for this?

If its any consolation your not alone with this one as had the same problem with the fight sequences. Am now in Flotsam and this has 3!! To date I have not been able to get past it but am just going to keep trying. I'm currently working with a 360 Xbox controller [which is considerably better than keyboard] but I think the problem is that the sequences are too quick for either me, the controller, or the combination of both. My son downloaded a script via here to slow the sequences down ~ total waste of time so don't bother.
Just keep trying and am sure we will both succeed ..... eventually ;-)

mini games are horrid in this game. The super flashes u can barely see with their extremely limited time to push the button, its sad. just sad. I can kill 3 people at a time, but lord help me, I can't punch.

There is an option in your gameplay options labeled : Difficult QTES on / off . default is on. bit of web research revieled this option should help the 'mini games' that require button presses. However most people claimed to see zero difference.

Im going to turn mine off and see if I notice a change or not.

Hold up people I've actually gone and done it [Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha]. The secret is NOT to mash the buttons but just hold down ~ and you can actually miss off the first of the two per sequence so ... for example ... if the sequence is asking for Y then B juust hold down B. If your at the Flotsam hanging bit then pick Geralts questions as A & A .... this then leads you on to fight with the commandant plus the hangman ~ so you only get two fights instead of 3! Good luck, seriously, but I've done it and you'll notice that, as soon as you hold down the relevant key, the game slows down :-)

this game has a tough learning courve but if you spend enough time to learn its mechanics, this game is really worth it...if you think brawling is dificult wait until the end of chapter 1 where you fight Krayan...it's the real first boss and things will get even more dificult later on but the game is really satisfing...I had like 3-4 tries before I could kill krayan...was totally worth it so don't quit you won't regret ;)

about dificult QTES I don't seem to find much differences but I'm only on chapter 2...might try these on my next playthrough and see if there are changes...

I seen a huge reduction on speed turning QTES off.
And the Krayan was a 1st attempt for me. roll, roll roll. just like all battles in this gimmicky combat system. Roll. aim mouse, switch targets, roll.

Did I mention Roll?

Throughly disppointed teh Krayan Trap was a 1 time use. So many more legs ;-)

I think I may have been a bit OP for the battle to though. Lev 12, still siiting on Chapter 1. I'm 2 hit killing everything except humans.

Yes, Xbox 360 and am sorry it didn't work for you ~ am now up to the Krayan but gotta say am really happy with this game and agree with mZk ... keep trying, its so worth it :-)

What does the damage say on your character screen? It might be bugged and much higher than it's supposed to be.

Holding keys is the way to go + turning "Difficult QTES off" (I did both). 'found out the hard way too...
But that "Krayan" battle, or whatever the name is, is coming soon, the stupidest computer game battle ever.
Just where I gave up on W2 a few years ago.

I cannot believe how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ this part of the game is. "Git gud" is fine, but I've turned off the QTEs and Geralt simply won't respond to any of the keyboard mappings I have in place. I suppose this is another crappy console port and I'll be reduced to a fricking pacifier controller in order to get past this part. Fricking stupid.

i'm playing on xbox an after reading this thread i did both suggestions: turned off qtes and also held the indicated buttons, sometimes awaiting the second button in the sequence. i'm now totally able to kick ass in fist fights. but can't tell you precisely which action did the trick. i feel like it actually might have been a combination of both.
