What button on the keyboard is the PARRY KEY

The gd instructions say to hold down the parry key and wait for a pic of a sword to hit the attach key I beat the guy for ten solid minuets and he refused to die. I'm gussng the only way to move along is to hit the gd parry key and wait for the sword pic. I have held down every key I can think of and the stupid pic never turns into a sword, just a swirling yellow thing in a brown dot. If this is any indication of how this game's gonna work I may be out b-4 i get past the stupid tutorials.

Skip the tutorial entirely 'cause it's not useful. Just do what every body is doing - dodge roll-attack-dodge roll.

Insomniac Jack. There it is , Please how do i reconfigure the stupid controls because (Options-Controls- Choose keyboard) and no other buttons, ideals, suggestions, Nada, nothing It won't let me do ANYTHING. I'm old they did'nt have computers until i was 40 OK? excuse me for not learning it in kindergarten. Please any help would be appriciated. I taught my kid how to rebuild a Chevy 454, and he taught me how to turn this thing on and not much else.

I think you were trying to riposte/retaliate - a counter attack available while parrying. You basically have to block/parry (default key "E") and hold the stance while aiming at your opponent. As he attacks you will see a small sword icon in the targeting circle at which point you have to attack to counter him. Alternatively you could just use the aard spell to break someone's defences which will give you enough time to land a few hits.

If nothing shows up at all in the tutorial it must be a bug, restarting the tutorial might fix it. Although the tutorial is seperate from starting a "new game", so you don't really have to do it as it doesn't carry over. Haven't had this bug happen to me in the main game.

Just a heads up before you lose your mind trying to retaliate once you truely start the game, you need to invest a point in the ability "riposte" under the swordsmanship skill tree to be able to do that. But first....you have to invest 6 points in the training skill tree to be able to place points in the other 3:swordsmanship, alchemy, magic. That means you'll be level 8 before you can place a point in the other skill trees.

How? The sword icon doesn’t come up.

The issue I had here was that you need to wait for the energy bars to refill. If you don't, the sword icon will never appear. Run around for a bit until they recharge. Then hold E and you'll see the sword icon.
