Post box key

The Journal says I should open the post box in Loredo's house and read his letters, but it's locked and the key apparently cannot be found on the same floor. Guards prevent me from accessing other floor? Is this one of those quests that you're supposed to finish way later?

There are two Royal Mail post boxes you can open and read. You can do both, though only one is required to continue the Mystic River quest.

The other box is at Louis Merse's place (the guy who pays you for completing monster contracts). If you've activated the Mystic River quest, you can ask him (using Axii sign) for access to the mail box. The key he gives you is also good for the box at Loredo's.

If you do all this before the first time you go and meet Loredo, then you should have no problem accessing his mail box as well when you visit him.

If you've already visited Loredo, then you don't have access anymore to his residence. You can still get access at the end of the chapter, but only if you'll make certain choices in the game (which I don't want to spoil for you)..

did it yesterday to complete that quest (though it will continue in the next chapters)
