The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

My save games disappeared.
My game crashed, when i restart it, all the saves are gone, its says go back to previous menu and and all i see is a start new game option. This has never happened to me before ever, i've put hundreds of hours in Skyrim and Fallout NV and got CTD too many times, but my saves never disappeared.

The first chapters of this game are extremely annoying and frustrating, can't go through all that again, i guess i will wait for Witcher 3 and hope its better optimized for PC.

Try deleting last save and autosave (just remove them from the folder).

Same for me, the game crashed.
it's the second time.
And for the second time i had to verify folders....and it says " ....some folders not validated.....". And it starts download again a 8gb folder for the second time.
It seems like my saves are corrupted.
i' ve noticed in the "load game menu", that some saves have not the image beside it while some others have it.
Is it the same for you guys ?

I love this game but i'm afraid i will not have the chance to finish it...

I just fixed my game, save files disappeared because the steam cloud save system was turned on, so i went to mydocuments/mygames/witcher2/config in there edited the user.ini files to turn off the cloud save and my saves were restored. Not sure about you guys who have corrupt files. good luck lads.

Witcher saves can become corrupted, usually to do with the steam cloud.
You need to turn off cloud saving in Steam settings.
Then go to your Steam Cloud savegame folder (there are two save game folders, local folder and cloud folder on your PC) it is in Steam>Userdata>[funny number I think your Steam ID>20920 (20920 is the code for Witcher 2). Then delete (backup elsewhere all these files in case) all these files and copy a few of the latest ones.
Then go to the other savegame folder in your documents, and delete (backup) all files there (these are likely old files, check that they are not your latest saves, if they are, just keep them there instead of pasting the local cloudfiles in) paste your last few files from the cloud save.

Then restart the game. Play the game until you reach a new autosave location.
Then turn cloud saves ON again, and the game will say it has a conflict. and you should upload your local saves the the cloud.

Voila, your local save games will be uploaded to the cloud, and you can play on.
