Witcher 2 doesn't launch in Windows 8.1, help please :(

Hi everybody!

I'm desperate and frustrated.
Few days ago I installed Win 8.1 because my win 7 doesn't work well, so I've tried to install W8.1

All is ok, but Witcher 2 doesn't launch (Physic DVD not Steam). It only says: "Witcher 2 dejó de funcionar" (Witcher 2 stop working), without any system error.

I've tried everything: All compatibility modes, deactivate antivirus/firewall, reduce screen resolution, uninstall microsoft C++ 2005,2008,2010,2012,2013 (x64, x86), update Framework to 4.5,download backup fom GOG page (With all game updates included)...ALL! But nothing works.

When I try to launch without compatibility mode (or with W7, Vista (SP1-2) etc.) it crashes, and if I try to launch it with Win XP (SP 1-2-3) compatibility, It dowsn't crash, but the launcher get close and appear again (restarted?) by himself.

I came to CDprojekt forums but they can't find any solution to my problem, so I think that maybe you can help me.

Please, anyone can help me, or give to me some info? I'm frustrated because I can't solve this trouble...

only thing i can think of is to make sure youve fully updated windows..(and tw2). i am having a similar problem w/ a game where im the only person (apparently) that cant launch it. but witcher 2 works fine for me on 8.1.

try turning your firewall off. the game was doing the same as yours but it worked when i turned the firewall off (windows 8.1 64 bit.

I tried it, but it didn't work...I'd try it again, including Windows firewall...

Also, I have Windows 8.1 full updated.

It get on my nerves...Today I'll try another solutuions again, but I don't have any hope xD

i dont know if this will help but my game wont load if msi afterburner is on i have use catalyst. when you turn the firewall off restart your system.

WTF? It doesn't work (on your PC) if MSI afterburner is on? xD
Another thing to try!

I just re-install again W8.1, and now I'm installing Witcher 2 GOG Backup...I'll give you some feedback later!

After installing again Witcher 2, I've noticed that it launch if MSI Afterburner isn't on. But If I close it, Witcher 2 launches perfectly...

Now I'll try to update windows again, but the problem seems to be in MSI afterburner...

YES Finally after hours found that this did work for me as well. MSI Afterburner turned it off and finally launched someone needs to sticky this fix.!!!!!!!! Thank you !!!!
