Not necessarily. Your laptop isn't exactly high spec.
Go into your Nvidia control panel and make sure nothing is forced (AA, AF, Vysnc) and find a setting called "Pre Rendered Frames" and set it to 1.
Would it be advisable to upgrade my videocard, then? Or would I be bottlenecked by my CPU? I know of people who have put better cards into this same model laptop with good results.
Running the game 1080p in windowed mode seems to help the performance quite a bit. Frames dip into the low 30's during heavy fighting, but otherwise it's playable...
If you are feeling like you are getting around 30 fps in windowed mode then you could use a program like *fullscreenizer* to make the windowed mode borderless.
Also make sure you are not running allot of BG apps/programs (like skype, chrome or whatever) to give you that extra 1-5% boost.
I wouldn't recommend getting a new GPU for laptops, because it's not worth it in the long run. Besides your CPU is OK but eventually the heat will destroy the CPU and GPU no question about that. And most parts for laptops are more expensive and harder to install. You should maybe look into getting something more durable if you are planning on gaming on PC. But that is just my advice.
No, that is about right for *M* devices. Sure some games will be more optimized to run on *M* (Mobile CPU & GPU) but for the most part games are not really optimized to run on them.. They are also automatically getting allot less poweflow (due to heat restrictions) than theire non mobile counterpart's which makes them less powerfull. So two GPU's of the same brand and modle could run very differently depending on if it's the mobile version or not.
Anyway, good luck!
I have a 540M with pretty much the same specs and I play on 1366x768. I know its nowhere near compared to 1920x1080 but it gives you a huge boost in FPS. There are very few games that I play at 1080p simply because the laptop cannot handle it. Just not powerful enough.
And upgrading videocards for notebooks is usually not possible since they are attached to the motherboard. Mine is anyway.
