Witcher 2 not launching on Win 10, please update the game!
Hello
So I JUST upgraded to Windows 10. Got my drivers and everything. So I do what I normally do. I plug in my external WD HD, go to the steam folder, and try to launch. Well, it takes me about 20 minutes before I can get steam to run as admin. Now, I try to launch the Witcher 2. But it won't launch! I get as far as steam saying the game is launching, and then POOF nothing more. I verified my game cache, rebooted, tried to boot direct from the .exe, nothing is working. Please help!
Thanks!
EDIT It worked on a previous install of windows 10. No idea what went wrong

No need to update the game, as it works fine. it's Microsoft who f...ed up the upgrade process for millions of users. Save your product key for later activation, then install the OS clean, and everything will be fine. (And don't use Defender, it's buggy as hell at the moment.)

I cannot do a clean install. I originally did, and it refused to accept my Win 8 key. I had to reformat to Win 8 again, enter the key, then upgrade to Win 10.

Ironically, things seemed to work back when the Win 10 install was clean...

This article might help you with that.

Thanks these may help if it continues to give me trouble. Although, believe it or not, skyrim and witcher 2 work now. I swear I did nothing different whatsover. They just work after a reboot (which I already tried like 10 times and it didn't fix it before).

Try either disabling OneDrive or prevent it installing files straight to the Documents folder on the OneDrive cloud instead of the actual PC.... This solved my problem and now Witcher 2 launches and runs fine with my clean install of Windows 10.

Type "Settings" in the bottom left search bar and enter, then select System and then Storage. Scroll down and make sure the option that says "New documents will save to" is selected for "This PC (C:)" and not OneDrive.

I decided to completely disable OneDrive as I don't use it.

For me, the launcher window wouldn't even appear. Turned out the issue was Bitdefender's Ransomware protection module. Reviewing the notification logs, I discovered several notices of blocked file modification events. Responding to the notices to allow for the file updates allowed Witcher 2 to start.

Would suggest anyone not running any steam game from default steam installation location to add steam dir to path statement.
