Scroll down the page to find IK_Pad_RightAxisX [and Y] settings and change the value to something other than "1." This is the setting I use:
IK_Pad_RightAxisX=(GameKey="GI_AxisRightX",Value=0.7)
IK_Pad_RightAxisY=(GameKey="GI_AxisRightY",Value=0.7)
If for some reason you use the game's configuration tool again, you will have to edit and save this file again because it will reset to default. While you're there, Scroll down to the bottom and look for TextureMemoryBudget. If your GPU supports a decent amount of RAM, you can potentially improve the performance of the game by increasing this value. So, say you've got a 2GB video card, you can change that value to something like 1000 (1000 megabytes aka 1 GB).
So I then changed the left axis from 1 to .5 in the 4 settings below (i assume one for each direction) but when I got back in game I was only able to walk (i couldn't run).
\Documents\Witcher 2\Config\input_AZERTY
IK_Pad_LeftAxisX=(Gamekey=GI_AxisLeftX,Value=1.00000)
IK_Pad_LeftAxisX=(Gamekey=GI_AxisLeftX,Value=1.00000)
IK_Pad_LeftAxisY=(Gamekey=GI_AxisLeftY,Value=1.00000)
IK_Pad_LeftAxisY=(Gamekey=GI_AxisLeftY,Value=1.00000)
So I bumped it up to .7 and now I can run again but it didn't fix the twitchiness.
I think I'm ready to give up trying to fix it.
But moving my character is so twitchy and feels so terrible compared to how smooth and fluid Skyrim is that I don't even want to play the game, which is a shame because I was starting to like the combat and get into the game.
Steam is starting to realize this with their "Big Picture" and the soon to be released steam machines but if developers are just throwing in controller support as an after thought then it doesn't matter. I may as well just give up on PC gaming and get a new console instead.
After playing games like this on a 46" 1080p TV with 5.1 surround sound while relaxing on the couch with a controller there's no going back to sitting at a desk in front of a monitor. At least in my humble opinion.
Its one of the best RPG's out there. What a pleb
