Can someone tell me the best armor, steel,silver sword in chapter 3? (Costs for crafting etc would be appreciated)

Obviously what is "best" depends on several factors (e.g. one sword might do a bit more damage, but another might have good bonuses, such as regeneration and critical effect).

The best armor is the Vran Armor[witcher.wikia.com], which you can only craft if you've completed the Mystic River[witcher.wikia.com] quest in chapters 1 and 2.

However, note that if you're playing a Mage character build, it might be better to not craft it and instead keep the Armor of Ysgith[witcher.wikia.com], which is slighly weaker in some aspects but gives better bonuses to signs.

As for steel swords, the best to my knowledge are Caerme[witcher.wikia.com], the Forgotten Vran Sword[witcher.wikia.com] and Dancer[witcher.wikia.com]. (Don't look just at damage range, but also at critical effect, bonuses and how many rune slots there are).

For silver swords, it's probably Deithwen[witcher.wikia.com] or Addan Deith[witcher.wikia.com].

Of course, if you're playing in Dark difficulty, then the Dark armor/sword sets are the best overall (though very expensive).
