The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

How long does this game take approx?
I recently purchased Witcher 3 and since I have yet to beat Witcher 2 I was wondering how long it takes to power through and beat so I can play Witcher 3?

Or should I go straight to Witcher 3 and be damned with W2? (as the last time I played I got to the woods and tavern and got wrecked by the betters in there, didn't know how to play and just rage quitted and never played again pretty much)

Is there much I need to know lore wise before starting W3?

And also, is W3 really as good as they say it is, and why? (is it because of that gwent mini-game or soemthing i heard about?)

You can play the entire game in probably 50 or 60 hours, it's 3 short chapters that can be done quickly if you run the story and don't waste time.

Actually it's no more than 30 hours on average. And it's a good game. But if you already rage quitted, then I see no reason for you to try again.

50 - 60 hours is a lot. I guess I better spend time playing new vegas so i can finally finish it. Thank you.

"pretty much" going by my memory, those damn gamblers and stuff in the tavern, some times side quests are no fun, imo

Cheers to you also.

The game has 5 chapters. Prologue, 3 main chapters and Epilogue.

Prologue is mostly the same with a few minor choices and only 1 true branching point near the end.

Chapter 1 can branch out rather heavily near the end.

Chapter 2 is 90% different based on a decision in Chapter 1.

Chapter 3 is again, some 50% different based on what you've chosen in Chapter 1.

Epilogue is the same.

To see the entire story/game, you need at minimum 2 playthroughs.

If you know the game, I'd say a fast playthrough for 1 branch is 16 hours. If you take your time, I'd say 25-30 hours easily for 1 branch. 60 hours for 2 playthroughs to see the entire game. There will be of course decisions you won't be able to see/experience even with 2 playthroughs.

I did say the entire game in 50 to 60 hours, so. I stand by my original statement, If like me, you like to take your time it can be longer and again, if you just play the story you can blaze through it. I thought I had put it succinctly but oh well. :nekkerheart:

How long entirely depends on how you play the game and how much free form exploring, side activity, and monster battling you decide to do.

Jump into W3 and go through the full play - when you have done that and wants more Witcher then come back and fully play W2 - play should be fun not a chore

Thats just what I wanted to hear!

Mind you, whats all the fuss with Witcher 3 anyways? I just don't see the hype I mean maybe thats just preference. Cyberpunk 2077 was a let down (CD Project RED) but still enjoyable. Meanwhile I see playing something like Skyrim to be the most technically superior Fantasy game to make it. Their is all the awards for this game (Witcher 3) and although I really liked Witcher 1 (the timed swordplay and the longer duration potions made that quite a contender to SKyrim, for me) Witcher 2 seems, different, in like a tree dweller hobbit way or something. Bland perhaps?

Well it has been written a lot about W3 to why it received the praise it did but you should also consider when it was released and how it did influence after all Assassin Creed Reboot Origin/Odyssey/Valhalla.

You don't need to play W2 in terms to start playing W3, if you're interested give it a go at W3. If you had enjoyed Skyrim then The Outer Worlds is also another serious contender.

When focusing on the main objectives, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is about 24 Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 54½ Hours to obtain 100% completion.

The gambling quests are the worst part of the game imo. Just skip them. They provide almost no money or anything else worthwhile.

That's definitively wrong. It takes 53 hours and 59 minutes.
