Nothing, this CD Key is just for You. You can write it somwhere to redeem it later elsewhere ( like GOG ) if You feel like it.

If You don't want to see it again just select option "don't show next time" or something like that.

When the game was released 3 years ago, it still had a DRM.. You needed to enter the CD key to activate the game before playing it.. But about 1 or 2 months after release, the devs completely removed the DRM so the CD key was useless..

But later they gave us the GOG copy of the game if you redeem the key on GOG.com site..

Yep, it was needed before they removed any kind of DRM stuff.

If you use the key on GOG, you can grab various extras there which aren't in the Steam version like an artbook (i think it was one), Soundtrack and all kinds of stuff.

You won't lose your Steam version, if you use your key there.

Well, don't forget, that the GOG version doesn't give achievements in Steam. You can play the Steam version, but still download the bonus stuff on GOG (well, there is actually bonus content if you look into Steam's tools list, there's Witcher 2 Bonus Content listed, but I think GOG had some exclusives, can't remember the differences).
