The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

Level of Detail and Draw Distance on Mesh Objects and Foliage..
This is so horrible in this game.. even with the Extreme Quality Foliage mod =( Objects/Foliage pops in within a few feet/meters infront of Geralt.. well mostly objecs.. but on the grass the Details lower themselves if i walk away from objecs and foliage.. like a 3D into an ugly 2D model.. with every setting on Maximum.. the only thing that is disabled is Ubersampling since it drops the framerates from 90-100fps down to 20-30 (which happens anyways in wider/larger areas such as the Flotsam Woods, i don't even want to start about the Cutscenes.. the DOF kills framerates in every cutscene down to 20fps, with Ubersampling off). I've saw a few posts on different forums that the Enhanced Edition Patch is the cause for this.. but i'm not sure if it's true.. i guess there are no fixes for this? Sincerely Catnip.

Have you manually increased the Texture Memory Budget in the Config file? What are your specs?

Yes i did! I've set it to 1536, even tried 2048Mb in the User.ini but nothing really changed.. the Vram usage never went higher than 900-1000Mb (Using EVGA Precision). I'm not trying to brag or show off, just listing my Computer specs.

i7 4930k @4.5Ghz with Multiplier only and 1.180v (H100i idle temps about 35-40°c)
Asus DCUII OC GTX780Ti SLI (+50Mhz Core Clock & 250Mhz Memory Clock)
EVGA GTX750Ti (As a Dedicated PhysX GPU)
Corsair Dominator GT Ram 4x4GB Quad Channel @1866Mhz XMP Profile
Corsair Platinum AX1200i 1200W PSU
Asus Rampage IV Extreme Motherboard

That's about it.. Nvidia Driver is the 337.88 since the newest 340.52 gives Bluescreens and Driver crashes..3D Nvidia Drivers & Nvidia HDMI sound both are not installed since i don't need them really .. Bios is the second latest because the newest one shows Overclocking problems.. (for my motherboard that is) GPU usage on both are between 90 and 105%, but in larger areas and Cutscenes it drops to 40-50%. CPU runs stable.. tested it with Intel Burn Test and 20 runs with 12288MB Ram.. i have really no clue why it runs so bad.. cannot really imagine the CPU being a bottleneck.. i mean it's a 4930k after all =( other games run without problems. Sincerely Catnip

Edit: I play in 2560x1440p though, resolution changes didn't help (infact, the performance got worse with lower resolutions and to be honest, i don't like it all blurry).. downclocking didn't help either, i doubt a driver reinstall would help either.. since other games run okay.

Okay i played around with the User.ini settings.. lowered the Mesh and Foliage Distance Scale.. and now it's not as bad anymore.. but the lower quality objects and foliage fading in and popping in is so ugly and distracting.. both settings are a 4.0 now.. and i had both at 100.. i thought my system could handle this but i was wrong =(
Indeed. :ftlrebel:
